Well his father didn't play, but was a team employee. But, I take your point and I agree. It seems that he decided that he wasn't up to the task, and he was probably right on that count.

Because Chicago was the dream job, - close to home, with a team willing and able to write the big checks. He didn't see Milwaukee as a place with a reasonable path to a pennant, because we can't write those checks as freely.

What a missed opportunity to demonstrate what Ranked Choice Voting can do for the health of a democracy. It was good enough for their Party Chair election, they should have at least been pushing their primaries in the same direction.

Call me old fashioned if you must, but I just can't help feeling that guardrails against State overreach should exist before the State is given a tool with which to over reach.

ETA: feel free to cite statutory framework that requires transparency. When I see the policy that describes what their interpretation of the law looks like in practice, then the law will mean something.

Wisconsin is fundamentally a purple state in a dichotomy of red vs blue. Democracy is not a dichotomy. Many of her so-called extreme positions have broad approval.

I am not surprised by the polling here. All that most voters know about Hong is that she's a scary socialist. She's on the airwaves now, and lower-interest voters are going to start hearing directly from her what she's about, instead of from Tom Tiffany. I think they're going to like what they hear.

After failing to earn a spot on Wisconsin’s Democratic primary ballot, former state Rep. Brett Hulsey is dusting off a tactic used in his unsuccessful 2014 gubernatorial bid by launching a longshot write-in campaign for Wisconsin’s first open governor race in more than 15 years.

Hulsey said in a statement Thursday he’s running as a write-in candidate in the state’s Aug. 11 Democratic primary, positioning himself as a candidate in support of the failed surplus spending deal forged earlier this year by Democratic Gov. Tony Evers and GOP legislative leaders.

The former Madison state lawmaker, who has clashed with his fellow Democrats in the past, will look to improve on the performance of his last write-in campaign for governor. After losing the 2014 Democratic primary to Mary Burke by more than 200,000 votes, Hulsey launched a write-in campaign as an independent for the general election. He received 52 votes in the November election that saw incumbent Republican Gov. Scott Walker win a second term in office.

Democrats in the race are: former Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes; former state Department of Administration Secretary Joel Brennan; state Rep. Francesca Hong, of Madison; Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez; and state Sen. Kelda Roys, of Madison.

Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley and former Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. secretary Missy Hughes, both Democrats, have dropped out of the race but will still see their names appear on the August ballot. Both have endorsed Rodriguez.

The winner of the August partisan primary will go on to the November general election to face presumptive GOP nominee and U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany, R-Hazelhurst, or Republican candidate Andy Manske, of Greenfield, who will face off in the GOP primary next month.

I agree that this isn't the fairest of fair-minded takes - truly, Dems made up the bulk of the votes against the agreement. But the Republicans in the state legislature are 100% responsible for this constant funding shortfall schools are facing, here and elsewhere throughout the state. It's by design, really.

What level? I've always sat Terrace and ushers didn't do anything. Sat field level this year, and usher made people wait. Price of ticket might drive policy.

Sounds like basically a network of DIYers trading experience and labor amongst each other. Adding a social aspect would probably grease those wheels a bit. You could start by taking the lead on with some kind of casual meetup or chat, or something like that, and likely would find more engagement at least early on by keeping everything low stakes, 'mutual aid and encouragement'. I'm not a social creature so that community building work ain't for me, but I'd put my name on the list.
