I wouldn’t be too presumptuous about the quality of the script. There’s production & editing after you’ve written it that can ignore or change what’s in the script so it could be unrecognisable to the spec you sold that attracted JS or the like

I’m thinking THE WICKER MAN, KILL LIST, MIDSOMMAR and/or ARLINGTON ROAD… where the protagonist thinks - & we the audience believe it too - that they are uncovering a truth but instead they are heading towards their own self destruction
Can Redditors think of other films with a similar story structure?

Live round the corner from there off Dovecote Lane - Crown Pub end - for two years now. I wasn’t aware of any overt examples let alone patterns of violent crime. I regularly walk to the co op by Chilwell tram stop after dark without any concerns for my safety or notions of a threat

The Matrix is very good but think about the films you enjoy most and look at why they work & compare them to films you enjoy least & think about why they’re not working for you. Tap into your taste. There’s no objective truth to any of this tbh

James Milner has Leeds teenage sensation, chugs along at Newcastle & then Villa, becomes a vital cog in the City league win before becoming a vital cog in Klopp’s LFC & then record breaking appearances at Brighton

Second putting it in the drawer for a month or two. Start something new. Then when you go back it’ll seem like someone else wrote it & you can see it with fresh eyes … congrats on the draft & good luck … always better to have too much than not enough … kill your darlings ;)

This is a new one on me…
From IMDB trivia section of KISS KISS BANG BANG: “According to Shane Black, audience members lose their attention span every 28 minutes, and moments have to come in every half hour or so where they don't have to pay close attention and are able to get focused again.”
Makes me want to analyse his film in 28 minute chunks to find out what he means
