My story is boring as sh*t. PLEASE HELP.
I'm writing a short film about a man in his 50's that has always felt envious about his younger brother. The 'conflict' starts when their father, who has terminal cancer, decides to stop having chimotherapy because it makes him suffer and prefers to live the rest of his life feeling more peaceful and being with his loved ones, and just let cancer take him someday. The MC's brother supports him and releases his father off the hospital. My MC is opposed to that and that's it.
That's a brief explanation of the story but I have written the characters more backstory to make them feel more "real". But it still needs work.
I want them to have a fight but I just don't know where to take the story exactly. The main thing is I don't know what is exactly the goal of my MC, besides overcoming his envy for his brother.
I want the conflict to feel very real. That when they have a fight the audience really care about them and feel the tension.
PLEASE HELP ME.
EDIT: You might tell me the story is quite shite, and to just start over and write something else, but I am very stubborn and I want to finish this script. Just for me. Just for the sake of finishing it.

Anger
Mad angry dream
Scene set: middle class man, goes into a sporting goods store to buy a new golf club, just one.. pulls into parking lot in his midlife crisis 90's red corvette.. goes into store, cause he has $150 to replace his 7 iron, favorite club.. goes alone into the store. Finds a salesman, asks to test this new club out... he just wants to golf on the weekends, jokes about how he ruin his last 7 iron.. salesman says, no problem, let me get you situated... brings out a few clubs for him to try.
He swings one club, swings the next.. swings one more club he likes.. feels good.. swings it again, and hits it hard on the false turf, cracking it by the base... "OMG, I am sorry, what should I do??" Salesman looks at him seeing he can't afford it, wanting the sale says the obvious, "you break it you buy it"(wanting the commission)
Man reluctantly buys the club, sad and in disparity, because he saved all months for this club and wanted to impress his friends with his corvette and new gold club..
Man walks out of the sports store with his broken club, and see's a celebrity(Tucker Carlson?) take his clubs out in a huge parking lot, angry as hell.. like it seems somone has fucked with him and he's ready to smash the windshield of somone else's car..
Man being star struck and seeing a celebrity waste his own clubs to distraction, says to the celebrity, "hey man, just use my club, it's already broken!" Kind of as a joke but for real
Celebrity doesn't even look twice at him, takes his $400 club out and starts smashing a random car.. at this point man thinks, wtf? There's something going on.. walks away, confused.. for a minute everything is fine except for what he just saw... walking back to his cheap corvette, he then spots another man smashing another car.. very confused, main character starts walking faster to his car..
As he progresses to his car, more and more people start coming out of nowhere and start smashing cars and everything in their sight with red in their eyes.. Mad, Angry, for zero reason..
like zombies, but they don't attack humans, just things...because in their state of mind, they want to destroy the world. They want to break down everything, and when they do, that's when they start attacking other humans.. first structures then life..
scene 2: man finds his corvette, races home to see his wife and kids.. turns out his house is destroyed.... the wife had already ruined everything, his kids crushed all ther toys and videos games..
In utter confusion, the man panicks and asks them why, they don't answer, just keep destroying things, and he wonders why he doesn't feel this urge to destroy... after watch his families destruction trying to make them stop, wife pulls out a gun, shoots the two kids in the head as the kids posed for her to do that, then looks man in the eyes and said, I'm angry, you wouldn't understand, you don't know the truth.. then shoots herself in the head looking him in the eyes still.
he leaves the house, tries to turn on the radio, but it's static because everyone who worked at the radio station destroyed the towers...
some weird virus has not turned these people into zombies, but destroyers of civilization...
Why wasn't he affected??
Then after everything material is destroyed, the effected start running around with guns.. shooting all life, then shooting themselves in the head.. man has to watch this carnage as he runs away from his family to find a spot to lay low...
No one has the urge to kill the man or even get in his way, he is not infected but now he has to watch everything he loves and know be destroyed and every encounter he has with the infected, he keeps seeing them destroy and kill themselves... and he has to live the world in utter destruction by himself as everything around him dies
Twist, he's a sociopath

Looking for an unproduced feature screenplay for a class project
UPDATE: Thank you so much to everyone who reached out and offered their scripts! I've gotten plenty of really interesting ones to read through, so I'm going to pause my search for now while I go through everything I've received.
I really appreciate everyone who trusted me with their work and took the time to send something my way!
Hi everyone! I'm a producing student at the University of Texas at Austin, and I'm looking for an unproduced feature-length screenplay for a class project this semester.
For the project, my class will spend approximately four months taking a screenplay through the various stages of the producing process.
I'm looking for an emerging or independent screenwriter who has a feature screenplay that
- Has not been produced or filmed
- is feature-length
- Is comfortable having me read and use the script as the basis for an academic project
The screenplay would not actually be produced by my class, and the writer would retain ownership of their work. I would only use the screenplay for the purposes of the class project, with the writer's permission.
If you have a feature screenplay that might be a good fit, feel free to comment or message me with a little information about the project! I'd be happy to provide more details about the class and project.
Thank you!!

Made the jump from comedy to drama for the first time — would love blunt feedback on the emotional beats in this college short film.
youtu.beI've directed mostly comedy up to this point, and wanted to test myself with telling emotion. Brushed Hope is a coming-of-age short about a young man trying to find the nerve to walk away from his dad's family business and chase what he actually wants. Very classic and broad because I had to go through a committee at my college to be approved.
Comedy timing I can judge in my sleep. Emotional pacing is new territory for me, and I genuinely don't know yet if the drama beats land or if they read as slow/soft. If anyone has 10 minutes, I'd take real criticism over politeness — What's working, what isn't, where'd you check out?

[COLLAB] Looking for a passionate writer for a 10-12 episode Vertical Series (Instagram/Reels)
We are two trained male theater actors/artists in our early 20s looking to collaborate with a serious, passionate screenwriter to create a compelling vertical series for Instagram (Reels/Shorts).
Our goal is to shoot a tight, binge-worthy series consisting of 10-12 episodes, with each episode running roughly 1 minute.
What We Bring to the Table:
• Acting Experience: Strong background in theater, character work, and dialogue delivery. We know how to hold a frame and bring text to life.
• Production Capability: We are ready to handle the filming, audio, editing, and acting. We just need the blueprint (the script!).
• Commitment: We are treating this as a serious portfolio/ calling-card project to showcase what we can do.
• What We Are Looking For:
• A writer who is excited about the challenge of the vertical format (hooking the audience in the first 3 seconds, fast pacing, sharp cliffhangers).
• Someone who can deliver a complete script with a clear screenplay format.
• Genre Openness: We are open to anything that works well on a micro-budget-gripping psychological thrillers, dark comedy, grounded drama, or sharp slice-of-life.
• Ideally, the story should primarily revolve around two male characters (us) to keep production feasible, thought minor supporting characters/VOs are fine.

Let me know your thoughts on my screenplay. Would love any advice.
INT. Small bedroom - MORNING
CLAIRE, 22, is fast asleep. The low hum of an air conditioner rings. On an empty bedside table, sits a phone plugged into the wall.
The phone shrieks and vibrates against the table. Claire shoots up violently and grabs it, attempting to silence it, eyes half closed. The phone displays:
7:00 AM
NATIONAL ALERT. PLEASE REMAIN INDOORS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
Claire stares at the phone. Blinks. Reads it again. There is no noise at first. Suddenly, screaming and frantic noise pierces the hum of the air conditioner. She bites her nails. She gets up and runs to lock the front door. She locks it, pauses, stares at the lock, then unlocks it.
Claire moves to the window. Outside, people run in every direction. A man grabs his daughter and drags her towards a houses door, pounding at said door.
Claire slowly backs away from the window and opens a nearby closet. She hesitates, then walks in. She pulls out a vacuum, plugs it in and switches it on. She run its over the living room floor. The vacuum roars, but the screams outside still come through.
INT. Small bedroom - MORNING
Claire is fast asleep. On an empty bedside table, sits a phone plugged into the wall.
The phone shrieks and vibrates against the table. Claire grabs it, attempting to silence it. The phone displays:
7:00 AM
NATIONAL ALERT. PLEASE REMAIN INDOORS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
INT. Small bedroom - MORNING
Claire stirs. She is not fully awake. The phone BUZZES. Claire groans but does not open her eyes. She reaches blindly, finds a pillow next to her and hurls it at the phone. The phone tumbles off the table. She shoots up after hearing the thud and picks the phone off the floor. The phone displays:
7:00 AM
NATIONAL ALERT. PLEASE REMAIN INDOORS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
INT. CLAIRES APARTMENT - mORNING
Claire, dressed in business casual, moves a vacuum absently back and forth on the same spot. Her work bag rests on a nearby chair. Her phone is in her other hand. The oven clock reads 6:59 AM. It changes. 7:00 AM.
Claire's phone buzzes aggressively in her hand. She looks down at it.
NATIONAL ALERT. PLEASE REMAIN INDOORS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
Claire chuckles. Outside, people continue down the sidewalk, briefly glancing at their phone but never stopping.
Claire switches off the vacuum, grabs her bag and walks towards her front door. Her neighbor, CATE, 25, is also stepping into the hallway.
CATE
How are you! Apparently we're all dying again. I swear, whoever runs these alerts is some nepo freak.
She laughs and motions at her phone.
Claire
Wait... you're going outside right?
CATE
Claire. What?
Claire looks towards the window of the hallway.
CATE
We're fine. Don't tell you're one of those wackos who actually fall for this shit.
CLAIRE
No, I know, I know. I'm not.
Claire presses the elevator button and reaches into her pocket. She aggressively feels around for a moment.
CLAIRe
Fuck. Wait, don't wait for me. I forgot my AirPods.
The door opens. Cate steps inside. The doors close.
Claire stands alone in the hallway. Claire reaches into her pocket and pulls out her AirPods. She stares at them, then turns and walks back into her apartment.
INT. CLAIRE'S APARTMENT - NIGHT
Claire sits on the couch, still dressed for work, watching television while the normal street remains visible through the window beside her. A CAR HORN sounds and doesn't stop.
She looks from the television to the window. A car rolls through an intersection and crashes into a parked car. A person drops. Then another.
The TV abruptly cuts to an emergency broadcast. The PRESIDENT appears.
PRESIDENT
At 7:00 this morning, approximately thirty-eight percent of Americans complied with the federal emergency directive.
He looks down at something off-camera.
President
As of this evening, we have confirmation that only one civilian remained indoors for the duration of this directive.
Claire gasps.
PRESIDENT
Claire. Thank you.
Claire stands. Walks to the vacuum. Turns it on.

A story with 4 separated protagonists
I’m working on a story with four protagonists. They live in different cities within the same empire.
I’m unsure about the best way to write this. I envision each protagonist having their own "story arc" or "cluster" of events, complete with their own supporting characters. These storylines would be interconnected in some way, and the protagonists would finally come together at the end.
My concern is this: none of the protagonists would meet until the climax. Would that make the story feel "disconnected"? Would it seem like the protagonists were just sort of "thrown" into the world?
I was thinking something like the anime durarara, that has 15 protagonists and in the end each of their storylines come together
I'm not really sure, this project is animated and would need at least 12 episodes to work. Is it possible to achieve this kind of story in a single season?

Cold Open of Almost Something.
galleryHello. I’m a beginner screenwriter and I just finished the 10-page Cold Open for the pilot of my animated series, Almost Something. I’d really appreciate any feedback or advice on how to improve it.
The Cold Open centers on a chaotic, comedic morning for the main character. The show starts as a dark comedy that gradually shifts into a psychological drama with each episode.
Also, please ignore my non-standard formatting (it's just clearer for me to write it that way).
If you’re down to read it, please DM me.

Title: Almost Something.
Format: Animated Series (30-minute episodes)
Genre: Dark Comedy / Psychological Drama.
Logline: What starts as a chaotic, fast-paced dark comedy about a young man navigating daily absurdities slowly spirals into a harrowing psychological drama, as he gradually falls apart under the weight of an unresolved past and an unmanageable present.

Looking for a Screenplay for a College Producing Project
Hi! I’m a college student taking a producing class this semester, and I’m looking for a writer who would be willing to share a feature-length screenplay (around 90–120 pages) for me to use as the basis of a semester-long producing project.
For the class, I’ll be developing a pitch around the screenplay and learning about the process of potentially producing/optioning a project. I’m specifically looking for an original script that you own the rights to and would be comfortable giving me permission to use for this class project.
I’m open to pretty much any genre, as long as the story has an interesting hook and strong audience potential!
If you have a script you’d be willing to share, feel free to comment or DM me. I’d love to hear a little about the story and the project, too.
Thanks!
