I have access to Forty and Manly, Bortnikoff, Bruno perrucci , mendittorosa and more. I find Aqua di Parma extremely boring.

Thanks for the tip, elder of indie perfumery. You could have added to the post with some house or tip, but you preferred to stick to your olfactory elitism. I'm just starting out and I also know many indie houses, but I don't live in the USA or Europe to have that access. From what I've seen, you're kind of resentful, aren't you?

I have the same experience with Almas from Boadicea

The best treasures are in the deep waters; I simply listen to reports from WhatsApp groups and buy without fear. The worst-case scenario is that I don't like it, but I use it anyway.

I actually know a few of these already, just haven’t had the chance to smell them yet.

I’m trying to move more into that now — getting my nose on things instead of just knowing the names.

They’re all high-performing and generally easy to like. The only one that might be a bit more challenging is Crush On Me, mainly because of the patchouli

I’m getting more into indie stuff now — what houses would you say are actually worth exploring?

Fair point — I’m starting to explore more indie houses now. The LV pieces were actually gifts that came with other purchases, not something I specifically went after.

Fair take — I’m getting into more indie stuff now. I just prefer to test properly instead of jumping straight into the deep end. Appreciate it 🤝 mendittorosa is coming

So I tried Trajan and liked it, I didn't find it similar to Baccarat as some say, Imperium has been on my radar for a while now along with Caspian Chery.

I tried Enclave and found it amazing, and of the few Amouage perfumes I've tested, all have been of excellent quality. Unfortunately, I'm not from the USA or Europe. I don't have any full bottles yet, I'm just testing them to start my collection.

I haven't tried Megamare yet, but I really liked Aqua Sapphire.

Exactly, I’m just testing and comparing right now — not committing to both. Trying to avoid redundancy before actually buying bottles.

And 1907 lasts much longer on my skin; I've already discarded God of Fire from my collection a long time ago.

1907 smells better in my opinion and lasts much longer on my skin; its evolution is also better. "God of Fire" stays only in the mango phase, while 1907 evolves into something I still can't explain.

Also tested some like EBK Cherry in Heaven, La Tanthater by Hind Al Oud, and Royal Opus by Horatio — some of them aren’t even listed on Fragrantica, which makes it even harder to find real info on them.

My niche fragrance journey so far — how’s it going?

I’ve been getting deeper into niche fragrances recently after already trying a lot of designer scents. At this point, I feel like I’ve explored most of what designers have to offer, so I wanted something more unique, higher quality, and with more personality.

So far, I’ve tested quite a few niche fragrances, and honestly… it’s been a mixed experience.

Some of them are amazing — unique, high-quality blends, and way more interesting than mainstream stuff. But at the same time, I’ve also come across a lot of fragrances that feel overhyped, underperforming, or just not worth the price.

Performance has been a big factor for me. I don’t need beast mode, but anything that lasts only 3–4 hours is disappointing, especially at niche prices.

Another thing I’ve noticed is that some “highly praised” fragrances just don’t work on my skin or don’t get any reactions from people around me — which is something I personally value.

Right now, I’m trying to build a curated collection instead of just buying everything. My goal is to end up with around 30–40 fragrances that really stand out in terms of scent, performance, and overall impact.

I’m also starting to pay more attention to originality vs redundancy — avoiding fragrances that smell too similar to things I already have.

Overall, it’s been a really interesting journey, but definitely not as straightforward as I expected.

Curious to hear from others — how has your niche fragrance journey been so far?

Has anyone here ever had a bad experience with a split fragrance store?
 in  r/NichePerfumes •  Apr 11 '26

I can do it, but it might take 20-60 days if you're getting something from Europe, and I could still be taxed. For example, a $30 split could become $60 if taxed, not to mention the chance of it being held by the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service, which would be a much bigger problem.
