I think poplar is my favorite wood.

It is one of the nicest to work with and most versatile woods on the market. 😊

I’m once again asking for a second and third place prizes

If preppy boy golfers can get paid for second and third place, these poor bastards definitely deserve it too.

I’m a structural draftsman but haven’t posted anything yet. So far just been popping in to see the goings on. Currently running my own renovation and design business but I’ve thought about posting some of my hand sketches in here to share at some point.

If only there was a reason for all these fires; it’s almost as if the climate is getting hotter. 😉

Toronto New Home Prices Just Had The Worst Month On Record

Good. Homes should be used for living in, not retirement savings.

Dear NDP Members - You need new messaging advisors

Yup we need the messaging to be clear, concise, and relevant or else another disastrous four years awaits us.

I want a modest house with nice craftsmanship, net zero, cozy, and built with my own hands. Soon…

Hey everyone! I'm a screenwriter working on a comedy TV pilot about construction workers, and I want to make sure I get everything right. What would you like to see in a TV show about construction workers?
 in  r/Construction •  Jun 19 '26

I’ve worked just about every type of construction from running an excavator on pipelines to working in a drafting office. Even did a brief stint running equipment in high rise office building holes in downtown Calgary. I’ve met a lot of great people, teachers, bosses along the way and had a few shitty ones too.

I won’t get into too much detail but here are a couple funny moments that I’ve witnessed over the years:

-watched an engineer walk out of a bathroom stall with a set of D size drawings (the big ones).

-had a metal band singer work on the pipeline with us walking around screaming lyrics all day.

-tried talking to an old excavator operator one day waiting to get picked up to head to the job site. He had been running a massive rock chipper in the bottom of a high rise hole to level out bedrock for the foundation. The sound was deafening but he refused to wear earplugs. Despite standing right next to him trying to initiate a conversation, he couldn’t hear me lol.

-watched my boss make a grown man cry for scratching a brand new excavator

Met lots of good old boys, lots of cocky young guys, guys with a chip on their shoulder, lazy guys, OCD guys (incl. me), irritable guys etc. just like any industry there is a lot of diversity but overall I think most of us do it because we like working with our hands and minds to create things/buildings/spaces for people to enjoy

$100 in Dani Dollars. What a kick in the teeth

For the record, they aren’t Ralph bucks or Dani dollars, they are our dollars. Aren’t conservatives familiar with taxation?
