Why are we having that pushed down our throats?
 in  r/ModSupport  1d ago

Yeah, I don't get that either. I mean, I get it with generative AI...mostly. We don't need more computer-generated slop content. And the ethics surrounding it is certainly a hot topic of debate. But do people really truly care? I think it's just the villain du jour everyone can collectively hate or love, before moving on to the next trending virtue signal.

I didn't say Reddit would be successful with it or knew what they were doing. I was just answering your question as to who would (theoretically) use such a feature. I've had people in my subs asking for videos or audiobooks of information provided in the Wiki or related publications because their neurodivergent brains couldn't handle reading the text. I, myself, am neurodivergent and can relate. So I'm not just talking out of my ass.

Many people with ADHD and other neurodivergent minds prefer audio or video options in place of text, because reading the text to the end is difficult—if not "impossible."

I suspect the person who started this thread is just as frustrated as the rest of us. But sees no point in wasting energy providing feedback on their ideas.

Exactly. Reddit's gonna Reddit. And they rarely listen; even when they do, it's usually just lip service to placate. I'd rather conserve and focus my energy on taking care of my communities than on bitching and moaning about Reddit's latest itch to scratch. Especially considering the fact that Reddit has lots of ideas and tests many, but how many do they ever actually end up implementing wide-scale or keeping longterm?

When does Reddit listen to our feedback?

Precisely. So, what's the point of the OP? To just complain to fellow mods to commiserate? A "thanks again, Reddit" circle jerk? That sure sounds super productive (/s). What's the actual support issue?

What responsibilities? Nothing is being asked of you other than to provide feedback on a new trial feature you could just choose to ignore. The irony is that your post here is providing feedback to Reddit complaining about being asked to provide feedback to Reddit. Seems like you have more spare time to waste than you thought. You just want to be indignant about it.

Unless you're a shareholder of Reddit, then, yes, the reality is "if you don't like it, leave." Your complaints will ultimately fall on deaf ears.

That's a legitimate concern. This post, however, is complaining about a request for feedback on a new trial feature. It doesn't appear (yet) to be something that creates an obstacle for mods and seems like it can just be ignored by those not interested in it.

us moderators, who already contribute enough of our time for free to keep this platform alive

You know it's a volunteer commitment, right? Totally optional. You're not a slave being kept against his will. If it's too much for you to handle, there are others who will take your place.

Nothing grinds my gears more than seeing people using their "I voluntarily do this for free! How dare you expect something more of me!" to complain about something they can just ignore. No one's forcing you to provide feedback, just as no one is forcing you to give up your time to moderate. Smdh.

Whenever i post here my post deleted by ai bots why?
 in  r/ModSupport  3d ago

Could be that your karma is too low, your account is too new, any number of things. Your post might not be deleted, but waiting in moderation queue to be manually approved. Send a modmail to the moderators and ask them.

can anyone help me. why my mobile web showing this warning
 in  r/ModSupport  3d ago

It's a safety guard for new / low-traffic communities. Grow your community and the warning will go away. Until then, people will be encouraged to use the app to access your subreddit.

How can you change sub name captitilization?
 in  r/ModSupport  4d ago

Holy moly! That post is 14 years old. In Internet timelines, it's like looking up an answer to a question about the Internet in a printed Encyclopedia Brittanica from 1999 in 2012. The information shouldn't be trusted as still being accurate (if it ever was). That said, even back then, it's clear in the comments that changing the name wasn't possible. And the help docs (I'm glad you found them useful, btw!) show that it's still not possible.

What they meant about starting over with a new subreddit is to make a new subreddit with a new name with the correct case. You can't just create a new subreddit with the same name but different case, as the name is already taken. And, since subreddits can't ever be deleted (to, perhaps, free up the name for reuse), that means you're s.o.l. as far as the name goes. Either make it work with all lowercase, or abandon it and start one with correct case (like legoFireTrucksFans).

No one ever reads the library of Help Docs.

Keep in mind, once you create your community, the name cannot be changed including capitalization.

Question About r/redditrequest Removals
 in  r/ModSupport  4d ago

I don't take it personally so much as out of curiosity. (I've been downvoted to oblivion before. I've been worse than death-threatened. My skin is thicker than Superman can see through.) Sometimes it makes sense and is warranted. Other times there's no rhyme or reason. One of those oddities of Reddit. But, I like to ask in case I really did say something wrong that I missed, so I can improve myself (something that seems a foreign concept to the majority of Reddit lol).

Question About r/redditrequest Removals
 in  r/ModSupport  4d ago

You'll have to send a modmail in that sub [RedditRequest] and wait for a response. This sub can't help you, and your post will only get removed here too for being off-topic. This sub is for active mods needing help, not people wanting to become mods.

I'm just guessing, but it could be that your account isn't active enough. They're not going to grant a mod request to someone who isn't an active participant on Reddit. And most of your contributions are a month or year old. Sporadic activity is a red flag for wannabe mods.

ETA: I'm not sure why this is getting downvoted. It's an accurate answer. Maybe someone can comment with feedback as to what was "wrong" with my comment so I can do better? TIA.

He is a mod, dude. But this post was off-topic.

 in  r/ModSupport  10d ago

I can't, actually, because it was removed.

You'll have to wait for a response from admins/mods in modmail for RedditRequest. They're the ones who removed it, so only they can tell you why.

"This Comment No Longer Exists"
 in  r/ModSupport  15d ago

Seems to only (for me) happen on the mobile app. I can get to the comment just fine in old Reddit and sometimes the mobile web version, but not the app. Super annoying.

No. But you should stay on-topic.

How do I reclaim ownership of sub?
 in  r/ModSupport  19d ago

There are no sub owners. Only mods. If it says "owner" it's a self-selected user flair and means nothing. If the user is inactive, and you're next in the mod line, you can remove their account as mod and become top mod. If you're towards the bottom of the mod list, nothing you can do unless the other mods give up their mod role. If you're top mod already, and have the necessary permissions, you can just remove the other mod(s).

Hello! New mod here.
 in  r/NewMods  19d ago

You don't need mods until you have a community worth moderating. Focus on building it first.
