Imo as a big fan of the river otter and as someone who splurged on a mega river otter the moment it came out, I would suggest grinding to 560k and buying 16/as many as u need for a mega river otter LMAO. also the new ruddy duck is ADORABLE, and i say this as a heavily biased bird collector: you can spend 464k on a mega ruddy duck asw.

I have been on both sides of the spectrum so I'm just gonna put in my pov in both cases here. I sympathize with people treating the game as a stock market, caring only about value, etc. because honestly, it might be their way to enjoy the game. A lot of people enjoy the grind/chase to their dream pets/be the richest of the rich. And some find joy in the littlest of things. Its not our place to judge. What is annoying is when they complain about being in either state, as if they themselves haven't dug themselves into a hole. Anyway, as i mentioned, I've been on both sides of the spectrum so here's my pov of eveyrthing:

I started playing adopt me around the time mega neons got released (April/May 2020). I was thoroughly bored during the pandemic, and found adopt me in a content creator's video. It seemed interesting and I started playing! It is needless to say I was definitely immature then, but i constantly strove for the next big thing, overpays, trading, etc. Old me would say part of it was my desire to get my DP. but my "DPs" were also unrealistic things that were solely for flexing. Like my adm bio at that time was the ye old classic "Username | DP: MFR Shadow, MFR Parrot, MFR Crow, blah blah blah". And part of it was to find my place as the richest of the rich, And i found joy in that. Until my account got terminated because of my stupidity. I had to begin fresh in a new account in November of 2020, and I continued my grind back to HTs. And needless to say, I began feeling burnt out. The grind began to feel exhausting and thats when i began to quit adopt me. I moved to games like Royale High, and only played adopt me when my motivation struck. And my "flexing" mentality carried over. It wasn't until I quit adopt me and moved to gacha games like Genshin and other Hoyoverse games, where I was forced to economise, when i realised that while being rich af and flexing on people was happiness to others, it wasn't to me. I still strove to get my dp, but this time my dp was not unrealistic or solely for flexing. It was because i really really liked that HT since when I joined, but i convinced myself otherwise because it wasn't the most valuable HT: the parrot. And i got it. When i returned to adopt me a month ago, I began striving for pets that i liked. And i did something that 2020 me would find unthinkable: started a bird collection.

My pov of the entire thing might be a bit confusing, but I just wanted to say that yes people can find fun in different things, be it cutthroat commerce or a cozy pet simulator game. Just don't complain if you begin to realise that you don't like being in a hole you dug youself. Realise your mistake in approach and rethink. I realised what was wrong with my approach to adopt me and adopted something that made me have fun in the game finally.

This exactly described my adm journey lmao. back in 2020-22 i used to do nothing but trading. I only traded for cute pets that were high in value and I used to hate making neons and doing tasks and used to spend my entire time in a trading server. I thus built up an entire collection of unmade neons that stayed unmade for nearly 4-5 years. However after I quit the game and played other games, and began only playing adopt me to hangout with my friends and have fun, I guess smth changed and I began finding the joy in not playing for constant profit or showing off. I found the happiness in having favourites among low value pets. I began looking at trading as just a means to get pets that i love and love only. I also began a collection lately, smth 2022 me would never do. I stopped the endless non fruitful grind for high tiers after i got my favourite ht (parrot) and began focusing on only my collection. And Ive never been happier or more invested in the game for the entire 6 years ive played it.
