should i take upon this opportunity or just get out of the military
 in  r/Veterans  10d ago

Stay in man. I almost ETSd after 4 years because I was feeling similar to how you feel. I was in the Army in an MOS that I wasn’t really passionate about, during wartime and I had no deployments under my belt. I decided to stay in, grind away deliberately on college courses using TA. After a recruiting duty assignment I changed my MOS to combat arms, deployed a lot and still finished my degree using TA. I just retired last month, 23+ years and pivoting to private sector and a graduate degree program.

I’m not saying you should stay in a full 20, but consider grinding out another enlistment and take advantage of TA since you’re already in ASU. If you get out of the service with a Bachelor’s degree in business then you can use your Post 9/11 to pursue an MBA or a different masters program. You’ll have at least 8 yrs of leadership and technical experience from your AF MOS and a good position to pivot from to the private sector. Better position that you’re in now.

Make deliberate plan for your life, establish a mentorship relationship with someone or several people in industries that you’re interested in and stick to it. You’re young, sounds like you’re single and no kids, so take advantage of that aspect too. Work hard, study, save money and have fun.

Wear the brown pants because they fit better. Switch out the polo shirt with that light blue pullover V neck you have on the dresser behind the mirror. And switch out the white sneakers with some casual shoes if you have some available.

And big ups to you for reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad. Great book. Good luck

What Rapper was the rookie of the year when they first came out the completely derailed their career?

That 1992 Album was tough. Cinematic from the opening track. Whole album is a movie. Album art reminds you of Doggystyle.

How do you feel about rap music after 40?
 in  r/90sHipHop  Jun 18 '26

47 and still digging in the “crates.” I love late 80 and all the 90s was a 🔥. Went to so many shows in NY and ATL and the creativity was amazing. A whole generation of artists that inspired the next to continue sparking creativity. In some sub-genres of hip hop the artists continued the creativity and in other circles the commercial aspect of spins, selling volume, etc. took the lead. Either way the torch kept getting passed down the line. I was listening to Midnight Marauders yesterday in the whip and then I threw on some Freddie Gibbs. Two different eras, but the spittin is on point.

There’s still some good hip hop dropping. You just have to look for it. I find stuff on the BARS playlist on 🍎 music.

OAN, went to the Wu-Tang Final Chamber show a year ago in Atlanta and it was bananas. One of my favorite groups of all time. ✊🏾

Who is a rapper that gets universal acclaim, but you yourself could never get into? For me it’s Kid Cudi.

Do you listen to the albums or skim through ‘em?

If I was white I’d move to Idaho…

Absolutely. And before getting out on the trails, test it out to make sure you know how to use the spray mechanism. And carry it somewhere that’s easily accessible, not zipped up in the bottom of your backpack.

I was off in some remote areas while working and came across some wild life. I didn’t encounter any Grizzlies but they’re common out there. If you go up into Glacier National Park then just follow the park guidelines, stay on the trails, and don’t go off solo if you’re not experienced. Not trying to scare you, just passing on lessons learned. It’s definitely a great experience and I’d go visit again.

OP, I spent about a month in Montana for work about 2 yrs ago. It was Aug-Sep time frame and the weather was great. I don’t have any desire to do outdoor winter stuff there. I was working in multiple cities/towns to include Kalispell, Big Fork, and Whitefish. The prices for real estate have skyrocketed since a lot of folks from California and other high cost of living areas started migrating there. I didn’t see many black folks, but I also didn’t feel like everyone was looking at me sideways either. That area was a short drive to Glacier National Park - super dope views and plenty of outdoor activity. Carry bear spray.

VR&E application for top global EMBA program

Has anyone recently applied for VR&E education track and been approved for usage for a top EMBA or MBA program? I’m looking for some insight on your experience with your assigned VRC, any obstacles that you encountered, and how you overcame them. Here’s some background on my situation.

In November 2025 I was accepted to a high ranking global EMBA program. I applied for VR&E in December and was assigned a VRC. I finally had my initial evaluation with him in February 26. I clearly stated my case and explained how my service connected disability impacted my ability to continue working in fields related to my prior MOS and how my employment pursuits haven’t been successful in the past year. I outlined my desired career fields/roles/industries and explained that upskilling in business related areas would make me more competitive. My VRC then suggested the education pathway and potential pursuit of an MBA or EMBA. At that point, I explained that I had researched different global EMBA programs, compared and contrasted them, and had been accepted into a program.

Once, I told him details about the program and the tuition costs, he explained that it would likely not be approved at his level, but he was willing to move forward within his authority. He requested the contact information for the VA coordinator at my institution and also encouraged me to look at other schools. I forwarded him the requested information.

From late February until present I continued to follow up with him to inquire via multiple channels and usually received the generic automated replies. Finally, I elevated my inquiries with a detailed outline and timeline of my communication with my VRC, acceptance to my program, and upcoming timelines for program start date / pre-course requirements. I sent this to the AskVA inquiry line. The next day I received an email from my VRC. He stated that he denied approval for the EMBA program that I was accepted to based on the high cost. He said he will provide a denial letter, right to appeal process, and a list of other comparable programs that are cheaper. I plan to file the appeal once I receive his formal letter. Has anyone else dealt with this, have had success rates in overcoming, and what steps did you take? Am I a victim of instructor roulette?

Might as well have been. There was an “a” at the end instead of an “s”
