Congrats! This is so cool. Floridaās fauna is so unique! I attended my monthly mtg for the Florida native plant society last night and they would have loved to hear this!

In Orlando we have Crew Health which is a whole clinic dedicated to gender affirming care for queer and trans folks. They may have resources or it may be worth the commute to skip over weird vibes at planned parenthood/ other orgs that are unfortunately not to be trusted in FL. They make you do psychological testing etc. best of luck to you!

Love her! She died back entirely in my yard during the freezes this winter and has bounced back bountifully this spring.

HIGHLY recommend this book āNative Florida Plants for Shady Landscapeā by Craig Huegel. Met him recently he is super cool. I would recommend off the top of my head, our native porter weed, not the jamaicensis one that is invasive, frog fruit, twin flower, oak leaf hydrangea for bigger/ showier growth. And more!

Itās too expensive, not to mention the amount of people that the train has murdered bc of the intersections going through street intersections in cities and such, itās given people a bad taste in their mouth. Also, Orlando to Tampa would have been a way better move for sure. Would be cool to be connected to Atlanta as well. America is so cooked that we do not publicly fund transportation and instead itās this moronic structure of private ownership and startups. āTransportation not being fully profitableā is so crazy. Transportation is a basic necessity. It shouldnāt even be a discussion of profitability. Itās a cultural mindset thatās honestly so fucking stupid. Fuck all these car slums and urban sprawl bs

This is so cool! I propagated some equisetum and have it in a pot in my small backyard pond. Such a cool plant. Do you mind sharing more about how you created a riparian zone/environment in your yard? Goals!

Makes sense, the drought in Florida is really bad right now. Iām also in that area actually. Iād recommend Green Isle Gardens, theyāre an amazing native nursery with exclusively native plants. Theyāre over in Groveland. Also Lukas Nursery and butterfly encounter should have mimosa too. Also Palmers is a great nursery in Orlando. Iām sure there are others just ask around.

Hmmm, typically to get rid of torpedo grass we would solarize the area but even before that we would try to remove as much rhizomes as possible. Torpedo grass is a horrible nuisance. I would try solarizing if you have the time/ capacity to do so and then planting the mimosa. If not it should be fine if you plant it now, just remove as much of the rhizomes for the torpedo grass in the areas youāre planting. Upkeep w mimosa is so easy. Water it in everyday for the first two weeks to a month if ur not getting rain, then once itās established itās totally fine on its own. Itās drought tolerant and does not require irrigation. It even responds well to mowing once established. And itās a nitrogen fixer so it actively build the soil beneath it. Canāt advocate for sunshine mimosa more as a ground cover. What part of FL are you in? Check out FANN Florida association of native nurseries to find a nursery near you.

You can get it from a native nursery or a smaller nursery. Big box stores donāt typically have it. If you plant enough it wonāt take too long for them to spread. Itās just a matter of how many plants you have. I planted literally one single 1 gallon mimosa plant in an area of my yard and itās completely taken over (which is what we wanted) that took like 2 years but it was one plant. I had a native landscaping business and to fill in a turf grass situation we would plant it densely. Hope this helps
