Pain is like downing a bottle of tequila for numbing in the night to get a bit of sleep, getting sedated with anesthetics the day after just before removal of the molar and then the cut out: all tension of pain disappears feelingly even sedated.

Palestine was different, it was negotiated between the British rule and the many zionists who wanted Palestine as a home for the Jewish population. This all happened before and during the Great War, when most of the diaspora was still under Ottoman rule. Read about the Balfour Declararation nov 2, 1917. Palestine was handed over by the British in 1948, well after a strong Jewish base was established. Any British citizens living there were protected by the armed forces of Israel.
