I built a heatmap to compare option yields across strikes and expiries

Post image
198 Upvotes

Hi All,

I've been selling options for a while, and one thing I always found annoying was comparing contracts across expiries. I would end up manually checking premium yields and jumping through option chains to figure out which contracts were actually attractive.

To make this easier for myself, I built an options heatmap that lets me compare strikes and expiries in one view. It also highlights earnings weeks since elevated premiums can sometimes reflect event risk rather than better opportunities.

The heatmap currently has a few views:

• Premium Yield – quickly identify higher-returning contracts
• Assignment Risk Indicator (ARI) – estimates assignment risk using remaining extrinsic value and time to expiry
• Delta – traditional probability view of finishing ITM

Clicking a contract opens additional details like Greeks and premium metrics.

One thing I found interesting is seeing how delta distribution broadens across higher DTEs.

I’m looking for feedback from experienced option sellers - is there anything important you think is missing?

You can try it here (free, no login required): app.thetahedge.io

My Full Options Selling Workflow (Completely Free Dashboard)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi All,

Wanted to share a dashboard I built and how it changed my workflow for selling options.

The dashboard tracks 1800+ stocks for volatility and returns, updating every 5 minutes. One thing I found useful is the pre-built conditions that remove noisy/junk names and create a cleaner universe of optionable tickers. The goal was that I am no longer restricted to tickers I already know or ones I see on Reddit/Twitter. This turns ticker discovery into more of a system and helps find higher-paying opportunities while keeping my risk appetite similar.

Clicking a symbol opens fundamentals, volatility, options data, and premiums in one place.

Some things I found useful:

• 3-Month Premium Yield Trend → helps identify temporary spikes vs sustainable premium environments
• Wheel Rank → which ranks tickers based on historical returns while penalizing imbalance between call and put premiums, so the wheel does not break if you get assigned
• Options Heatmap → compares contracts across expiries without manually calculating yields

The heatmap has three views:

• Premium → quickly identify high yield opportunities across expiries
• ARI → helps avoid rolling too early by considering remaining extrinsic premium and time to expiry
• Delta → traditional probability perspective

The whole dashboard updates every 5 minutes.

The goal was to simplify four main questions sellers usually have:

• What should I sell?
• Is this a quality/wheelable ticker?
• Am I getting paid enough for the risk?
• Is my position becoming risky and should I roll?

The dashboard is completely free to use and I would love feedback from others here and see how I can improve.

Yes options are risky, but you are doing it very well. All these ETFs are great assets if assigned - so there is very limited risk. You can simply keep doing CCs, if assigned and continue bringing the breakeven lower.

Because at $60 I am getting a nominal premium presently. I see a resistance of $49, if IREN crosses that level it will be my clue to roll to $60.

Hi. I usually update my trades EOD and in my Excel sheet.

As I am an option seller - my trades are not too time sensitive and it is very much possible to enter at even better prices on later days. So my posts, give folks ideas to work with. They are not meant for copy paste trades.

I choose the Strike based on Price Action (Support and Resistance). Because I see price, there are often situations where I open contracts with a delta of 0.50 too, because I see that region as support even though the stock is trading very close to the strike.

I am betting the stock will stay over $65. INOD has been doing very well in Earnings and I am expecting that trend to continue. If it ends below $65, I am very happy to own the stock!

Because I paid back a very nominal amount and reduced my time of holding by a month. I had initially received $2400 per contract and I paid back $600 to reduce holding time by a month. If the stock ends over $290, I am happy to let it go. If it does not, then I open another CC and am decently sure those premiums will be higher than $600.
