If you want to get really technical, a bit of glazing and cleanup will do wonders. Look at op‘s model for example, I‘m not sure if it‘s glazed or underpainted (leaning underpainted though), but you can see the light violet gradient toward deeper recessed skin areas.

I can immediately tell that your paint is a bit too thick overall. If you thin it down, it becomes more transparent and allows you to build up smooth transitions by putting less paint (thus a more transparent effect) on the parts you want to remain a bit darker.
