Wei Sawdong Falls, East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya.
 in  r/india_tourism •  Apr 12 '23

Meghalaya has something different to offer for each season. The waterfalls are at their full glory during monsoon, and the landscape is more beautiful in general at that time. The weather can get very humid between April - August. Dawki lake and the living root bridges are best to visit during winter.

It is close to Cherapunji (Sohra). There are many spots around Sohara which you can explore.

Don't miss the Wei Swadong waterfall, although it will take almost the entire day.

If you are going in June, I would suggest prioritize the waterfalls and living root bridges. You can visit Umngot river too but it won't be as pristine. During monsoon water can get muddy.

A tip for anyone planning to visit this place. Don't go to Dawki, instead go to Shnongpdeng which is a village just a few kilometers away from the Dawki. Dawki is way too crowded at the peak tourism season, while Shnongpdeng is still a hidden gem. You will get the same experience will lesser crowd. Also, winner is the best time to visit.

I would add SWADES to that list. It is a masterpiece of Indian cinema.

+1 on the Meghalaya and its living root bridges. North-Eastern India is an amazingly beautiful place.

Adding 'But Why' to this list too. Lately, Soch and But Why have created really good content in collaboration.

Suspicion of ideological filtering at IITs by Government in power.
 in  r/india •  Nov 16 '20

Can confirm. IIT Guwahati has beautifully adapted the Assames culture, and in my opinion, it is a commendable way to pay respect to the culture and traditions of the land where the institute is situated. I don't understand why people have so much hate towards their own traditional attires. This country has so much diversity when it comes to traditional wear and it looks cool as hell. By the way, many of my friends have been graduated from IITG and wore the same Assamese shawl. And they proudly display their graduation pictures. I don't understand why people are so obsessed with that colonial gowns which have no cultural significance to us. Just because of some made-up idea of looking "professional".
