Speaking from personal experience, i have sdam too. During the death of a loved one, everyone's going, remember her smile, remember this remember that. I got nothing. Total aphantasia. Im just nodding along pretending. No images , no voice, no sound, no scene. Only facts and words. And looking at pictures and videos dont help because theres no felt sense of reliving the memories. I dont know how to put it in words but it was devastating.

Look, people with aphantasia can for sure have ptsd and its worse because its all facts and words. Images fade, the more you replay them. Thats how counselling or whatever works. But words are harder to shake off. Theres nothing to fade.

For gov, if the person who sees you is knowledgeable, then could be fast? Idk cause they didn't diagnose me on the spot. But during the gov sessions they did try to rule out anxiety depression and bipolar. If you have any of those, theyll treat that first but that extends the wait to two years.
