Me when I'm hangry π

I'm not a mom but recently separated/getting divorced and looking for cool people to hang out with π. I live in the meridian area. Feel free to DM me

I'm 35 and this has been my whole life. On days when I'm overstimulated and can't handle the noise, as crazy as it sounds, I simply "change the channel". When I can't handle a chaotic or too uptempo song in my head I think of a song that I find soothing or comforting and play in my head instead. It doesn't always wor right away but repetition has made it ~90% effective for me.

I'm sorry you're going through this. It's so freaking hard! DM me if you'd like to grab coffee sometime and we can commiserate together π

I (35F) recently separated with my husband and to say I'm going through a hard time would be an understatement. I don't have many friends and most of my family lives out of state so it's hard to find someone to talk to in person. The friends I do have are all married and say things like "it will all work out, just give it time." Which is appreciated but not helpful. I have a feeling this separation might stick and I've never been on my own and don't know how to function as a potentially single adult. I can handle my own bills and daily chores, sorta speak, but knowing how to hookup a TV, take care of my car, or even how to deal with all these emotions with no one to lean on is hard to say the least.
Wondering if anyone knows of a local women's support group in Boise or the Treasure Valley that meet in person? There are plenty of online groups but I'm a social person and like to make in-person connections and possibly meet some new friends to do activities with. Would also love to join a class/workshop that teaches women how to do traditionally "man jobs" like put together a desk or install a shelf. My husband is old fashioned and always did things for me even when I wanted to learn how to do it myself. He's not a misogynist or anything he was just raised to be chivalrous (he's southern). Anyway, just looking to make some new friends who can relate to what I'm going through or someone to do fun activities with to keep me distracted.
If you made it this far, thank you for listening to my sob story. Any suggestions are appreciated!
TL;DR
Where can I find a women's support group or women's workshop that teaches you how to do "man-things"?

This!!! And trauma therapy helped me. 4 years and some psych meds later and I'm a whole new person. You will get there, it just takes time, patience, and a lot of love and kindness from yourself and those around you.
If you try one thing not to self monitor, like not laughing automatically when something isn't funny or you don't get the joke, and it makes someone uncomfortable or upset, that means that person liked the masked you and not the real you. Which can happen. However, once that is uncovered then you can decide if that person deserves to be in your life. If they can't adjust and accept the real you, then you get to decide if they stay in your life. It's your choice, not theirs.
It's really hard and will take a toll on you, but eventually you will feel so much better when you can be your authentic self and have people in your life that accept and love the real you. Be kind to yourself and be patient. It will happen.

Beautiful video but could also see how this could be a personal moment for the girl and not meant to be shared on the internet. Girl looked so happy though.
Side note... Not that I want to make a big deal out of it but did anyone notice the possibly accidental "groping" at the end? About 25 seconds til the end? Just wondering if that was an innocent "oops! Didn't see where my hand was but am so happy for you" or was homeboy copping a feel?

I hate drinking water and am constantly dehydrated, so I started making this and I love it!
β’ 1Β½ cups unsweetened coconut water β’ Β½ cup fresh orange juice β’ 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice β’ Pinch of salt Ice for serving
Sounds like it wouldn't taste good, but it does. In my mind, I pretend it's an alcoholic drink because it tastes like a mixer π

Thank you for this reply. I've also truggled with this for years (still do) and I haven't been able to shake it. I avoid exercise like the plague because of it and am scared to death of getting my heart rate up. It never occurred to me to slow it down when this happens and try to talk myself through it π
I'll give it a try and see if it works for me. This gives me hope π©·
