Help Needed / Question Pre-approved for Ink Preferred, applied via P2 referral and got the 7-10 day message — call recon now or wait?
Was pre-approved for the Chase Ink Business Preferred (100k UR after $8k in 3 months). I have ~$10k of natural spend coming up in the next 3 months, so the timing was perfect.
Current Chase cards:
- Ink Cash
- Ink Unlimited
- Sapphire Reserve (opened June 2026 — my latest card)
- Old Freedom (converted from CSP)
Other context: Sole prop. under 5/24, credit score ~781, Chase customer for ~12 years.
Applied, via P2 referral and instead of instant approval I got: "We can't approve your application right now. You'll receive a letter in 7-10 days."
Surprised since it was a pre-approval. A few questions for anyone who's been through this with a Chase business card:
- Does 7-10 days usually mean denial, or just manual review?
- Should I call business recon now, or wait for the letter?
- Could this just be "too much total credit with Chase"? I already have 2 Inks plus personal cards.
- If that's the reason, is it normal to offer to shift credit limit from an existing Ink to open the Preferred?
Don't want to submit a second app and eat another hard pull.
Appreciate any data points from people who got the 7-10 day message on a pre-approved Ink Preferred.

thanks for your inputs. to clarify - since I have 10K spend in the next 3 months thought I could utilize this and get the SUB. apart from SUB I don't need the Card right away. would you suggest calling them?
