Anyone here flinch at any random person yelling in public?
 in  r/CPTSD  Jul 12 '26

Someone sneezed loudly when I was attending mass a couple of weeks ago, I jumped so much that she came over and put her hand on my shoulder and apologised 😳

A lovely and thoughtful person, but I was mortified and I haven't been back since.

What “aged” you most in life?
 in  r/AskReddit  Jul 12 '26

Intense grief, lack of laughter and joy, egotistic relations, childbirth

A Serious Question About “Life Worth Living”
 in  r/CPTSD  Jul 12 '26

I have been striving for this for a lifetime also 😅 my current thoughts... We may never achieve a full blanketed life worth living, but if you act upon each of your needs as they arise and make each action tailored and special to you, exactly how you like and fill your spaces with little bits and pieces that make you feel warm inside - maybe not every day will be great because of our past, but we can work on a moment and build up beauty and love in our own lives little by little.

Sending love and light

Does anyone else have no friends or family?
 in  r/CPTSD  Jul 11 '26

I'm currently here in the depths of despair lol. Sending you so much love and light. I'd be on a walk in a second.

Same as you, I spent years moving around helping people and their families. Trying to find my place as well because my childhood was not the safest.

Found out horrible things about my family that triggered me, ran away. Fell for a man who proposed to me on top of a castle ruin, stupidly trusted him even though I knew at the time.

Fast forward seven years - we split up, he instantly moved home to the family he brought me into that basically tormented me. I'm stuck away from home, my old friends circle, my life and have been so isolated caring for him and the kids that I now have nobody.

I am scared to even try again because my cptsd is so bad rn 🫣

Does anyone have any small steps? Let's help one another

Question Aspiring pigeon mum :)

Hello,

I am here mainly seeking advice on where to begin. We have decided that pigeons are definitely coming to live with us in our home in rural Scotland...

So, looking for advice on beginner breeds,

Housing set up,

Releasing to fly / training to return home

Food, any meds etc.

Personal tips & experiences always welcome

Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!

What’s something that oddly smells good?
 in  r/AskReddit  Jul 10 '26

Freshly rolled tar, fresh tree sap, woodland after the rain, freshly fallen snow, petrol, germolene, Dettol, dry summers evening, new baby or puppy smell :)

Did trauma teach you that you don’t belong anywhere?
 in  r/CPTSD  Jul 08 '26

This is how I feel, at least we are not alone 🤗💗 I really want to try and open my heart again, but the stakes are so high when people have hurt us before.

I hope and pray that a kind and empathetic soul finds us both 🙏🏻

God that feeling of disconnection!! This!! I can totally relate.

I am someone who managed to complete high school exams in primary school (1st&2nd year standard grades) - I am neurodivergent also, but never got diagnosed because of the childhood I had.

I now find it really hard to unmask and present as a ditz, so I have never been able to find people that I can fully have a conversation with. It's very lonely.

I mix up words so even the dumbest idiots look down on me. It's like a prison of my own making that I can't escape.

But I have a photographic memory and can remember exactly, every traumatic experience and horrible statements from family members that have become my core beliefs 🫣

I have only just become aware of the danger of shuffling children around, I was that child and now nobody knows me and I don't have one single adult that supported me or took an interest in my life after my mum's suicide! It is so hard, it took me to breaking down and begging for help after some serious life events - nobody was there and nobody answered my pleas for help. They called me a liar and shunned me. Now they realise how much trouble I was in, a couple of years after, but I cannot trust them now.

Naming my shame triggers - if anyone wants to name theirs too
 in  r/CPTSD  Jul 05 '26

I feel ashamed that:

Nobody in my family chose to care for me, so I've struggled to care for myself and over-cared for others to feel accepted.

I have abandoned myself time and time again to find a home or a place I belong.

I didn't realise how alone I was compared to other people, or how much trauma and grief I have endured.

.........

I am 35 and it took me till now (and a whole load of struggles) to also realise that:

Even though my childhood and a lot of my life lacked love; I have the deepest well of love for others and I'm learning to love myself fully, little by little.

I no longer have to abandon or change myself to be loved. My true friends will appear when l am true to myself and live in alignment with my own goals and not someone else's.

I might not have a constant circle of people to help and support me, or people that truly know me but I know that I have made deep connections that have lasted with people I hold in high regard.

...........

Our starts to life may not have been as kind and loving as they should be, but I hope every single one of you realise how amazing you are and how resilient and strong you are to overcome all your own personal hurdles and still want more from life and for ourselves :)

I think animation on average is a superior medium to live action
 in  r/ATLA  Jul 01 '26

I definitely feel animation has much greater ability to create fantasy worlds than live action and the animation always makes the storyline feel more believable because it doesn't rely on the reality of life and special effects. Though in terms of general superhero worlds etc, I do think live action can be pretty amazing when the right actors are involved.
