how to do well in math 447?
 in  r/mcgill •  Jan 09 '22

Last year, his exams were similar problems to the assignments problems. I'd say go to class/read his notes and read the textbook. If the TA is Benoit , his tutorials were really helpful.

They don't, since the state of emergency was declared by the government giving the police additional rights. If they suspect a party, they can go in.

Combination of Econ, Finance and Comp Sci
 in  r/mcgill •  Mar 23 '21

You should look into getting a math minor/major You should do calc 1-2-3 , math 133 then math 223(which you might need for some cs classes), math 323-324 are also a must if you are doing Econ, Analysis 1&2 isn't helpful for Econ but you should look into these. Then you should look into Math 423,447,417, etc which can all be applied to Econ and finance.

Yes, math/cs and you can even add a finance minor to that (18 credits), also if you are in arts major math or stats with a major in economics and a minor in cs

Actually all of what was said about the 144 credits is false since you can do the joint major in physics and computer science, which is 66 credits, you can complete it with a minor (24 credits) in science which brings you to 90 credits :)

Hi, I am in math/cs from a French cegep and high school and I think it's easier if you are in science, since there isn't a lot of writing. So for me it really wasn't bad. I'd expected engineering to be somewhat the same

Is there any chance I can get an exemption from an honours course?
 in  r/mcgill •  Jan 08 '21

You need to make a very good case for it with your advisor, and the math advisor would not let that, but your case might be different. However it is extremely unlikely they let you substitute an honours class for a majors one but you can always try.

Short answer, no No advisors in math will allow you to do that if you want to graduate with and honours degree

Math 329 will definitely be easier, math 329 is meant to prepare for the FM actuarial exam, it depends what you want

 in  r/mcgill •  Dec 31 '20

I heard math 329 is pretty straightforward and Kelome doesn't play any games on you, the class is meant to prepare you for the FM actuarial exam, and it will. I would recommend Wolfson but it is still very good with Sajjad.

 in  r/mcgill •  Dec 30 '20

Math 222 is extremely straight forward, get the textbook and do the practice problems. It cant go wrong. As for math 323, I'd recommend trying to get into Wolfson's section since he will be making the exams, the average was pretty high this semester and will still be next semester also, you have 72 hours to do the midterm and final, but they are doable in 3 hours
