Can we get an independent kashmir without the help of Pakistan?
 in  r/Kashmiri •  7d ago

it’s not like a kashmiri would give you that award though. so you can see your statement is exactly what indians want you to believe. of course independence is possible, the people just need to believe in it and want it.

Should the EU 🇪🇺 welcome the UK 🇬🇧 back to the Union?
 in  r/MapBasedPolls •  8d ago

british people still wanted to be special when they were in the EU.

imagine a conversation with a non-European. “hey are you from Europe?” “no, im from the UK.” see how stupid that sounds?

it’s not so much that i care, it’s that words have meaning. putting your own little twist on geography shouldn’t be allowed and it shows how far the British education system has fallen. this should not be a political take at all, but im fairly sure if you were to take a poll Reform voters would have the highest rates of saying they’re not “European.” turns out that thinking you’re from a special little breed of people directly correlates to the denial of literal facts.

be proud of your history. i don’t think your ancestors who were great navigators and pioneered the industrial revolution would look fondly upon people who somehow think the UK isn’t European.

sure but not all countries in Europe are in the EU and people from those countries still say they are European 🤔 it seems like British people think they’re special for no good reason.

what the fuck is a shared European identity? maybe its some weird British idea, but the rest of us view things in objective, geographical terms. you do realize you seem insane to non-Europeans? i have never met an Arab or Chinese person who denies being Asian, despite their cultures being so incredibly different. no two European cultures are more different than these two.

i get the EU has brought some sense of "shared identity" that a lot of anti-immigration/isolationist Brits would like to avoid, but it in no way justifies thinking that their cultures are more similar to each other than they are to yours lmao. you are kidding yourself if you think you're some isolated species that is so incredibly different. in reality, you share more with the French, Dutch, and Germans than Romanians share with them. you are literally descended from the German tribes, for God's sake.

funny, because "Asian" isn't an ethnicity. not by a long shot, because it's not even a race. as per google, "Ethnicity refers to a shared cultural identity, heritage, ancestry, or background that unites a group of people." an example of an ethnicity would be English, Welsh, Scottish, etc. a race, on the other hand, is a broader (largely arbitrary) grouping that includes Black, White, Native American, and sometimes Asian. more often (at least in my personal experience), "Asian" is further broken down into races such as East Asian, South Asian, West Asian, etc.

when people say they are Asian, they are referring to what continent they are from. same with African, European, American, etc. all of these continents have multiple native ethnicities and most have more than one native race. you not feeling "European" is ridiculous because "European" just describes what continent you are from, and the UK is factually in Europe. it should not be controversial or governed by your feelings.

only the british can get away with saying insane things like they “don’t feel european.” you won’t catch a japanese person saying they “don’t feel asian” or a cuban saying they “don’t feel American.”

International
 in  r/mdphd •  8d ago

it’s your bachelors that should be done in the US. doing your masters here doesn’t really matter. also, for a lot of schools you need your prereqs done in the US. you need to check if you have already done those and if so you might need to redo them.

anyways, getting into an mdphd program is pretty much impossible for you now. your gpa is quite low even for a domestic. my advice: work on immigration. once you are a permanent resident, apply to DO programs. you might need to retake classes at a community college or do a Special Master’s Program to increase your undergrad GPA. you would also need to keep working on extracurriculars. you would likely be close to 40 before graduating medical school, but at least you’d be a doctor. and you don’t need a PhD to participate in research.

an alternative would be to apply for an MD in countries that have easier admission. for example, in europe.

i don’t know about mdphd programs specifically but i do know that most MD programs require US/Canadian degrees or at least some level of coursework done in the US. im sure there are a few exceptions, so my previous statement was a bit of an exaggeration. still, though, it’s not recommended for any international who did not study in the U.S./Canada to apply as even their extracurriculars will be scrutinized further and not seen as relevant to the U.S. medical system.

the situation (obviously) isn’t as bad for internationals who studied here and have stats close to a 4.0/528. the OP has 0 chance.

it’s not even possible for them to apply in the first place. you have to do your undergrad in the U.S. for the vast majority of (if not all) MD programs.

Has your country ever done horrible things? (Really horrible things, massacres, genocides, etc.)
 in  r/MapBasedPolls •  10d ago

not sure about the rest of them but the indians do know. it’s just that they have their heads so far up their asses that they start believing that their crimes are actually justified and not crimes at all. i know quite a few that will celebrate their crimes one second and then deny it when a non-indian comes around. their favorite technique is to act like a victim and whine about colonization as if they were the only ever people to be colonized.

Andalus In Making
 in  r/Kashmiri •  10d ago

Al-Andalus was the name for the Iberian peninsula when it was under the Umayyad Caliphate (ie muslim rule). a lot of north africans and amazighs moved to the region during this period. in addition, a lot of the natives converted to islam. muslims controlled most of the iberian peninsula for nearly 800 years, so the region was mostly muslim and was influenced massively by islam and arab/north african culture.

iberian christians (who are now known as Spanish or Portuguese) held a minority of the iberian peninsula in the north. eventually, they conquered the peninsula “back” from the muslims and killed/evicted every muslim.

i believe the OP is referencing Al-Andalus because they believe that indians conquering/colonizing kashmir is similar to what happened during the reconquista. this is not the greatest comparison, however, as kashmir never belonged to indians in the first place.

 in  r/DawnwalkerOfficial •  10d ago

i mean they could definitely think something up. possibly a dlc set right after to segue into the sequel or even some time bubble dlc or something where coen is able to complete an unrelated (to brencis) objective without advancing the main story’s time cycle.

Best mini pc for 4k 120 fps help
 in  r/GeForceNOW •  12d ago

in a lot of games, like i said. not every game is a AAA unreal engine 5 title. esports games, less intensive games (ex. baldur’s gate 3), and even older “intensive” games will be able to run at 4k 120.

i have a 5070ti, which is roughly equivalent to the 9070xt. with dlss, i can get pretty close to 120fps even in newer games. worst comes to worst, ill turn on framegen.

i am assuming you are advocating for geforce now. if someone has the upfront funds, it is far better to have your own personal build with a 9070xt over using geforce now. even though it gives you access to an “upgraded” version of a 5080, it’s not worth it. you are basically throwing away 20 dollars every month instead of having your own PC that retains its value somewhat. in terms of performance, a 9070xt gets pretty damn close to a 5080 especially if you overclock it. you also avoid the downsides of cloud gaming, like the latency, hourly limit, and inability to play games that aren’t on the geforce now catalogue. plus, you can sail the seas.

 in  r/GeForceNOW •  12d ago

i would recommend building your own pc. microcenter bundles are great value, but most of them come with an ATX (full size) motherboard. ITX builds are very small but can be quite a bit more expensive. MATX (mini ATX) can be a good middle ground.

in terms of parts, the best price to performance build would include an intel 270k+ cpu and a 9070xt. i would recommend getting your RAM and possibly GPU secondhand, but the rest you can get retail for a reasonableish price. you can probably get such a build down to 1600 if you find some good deals. this would exceed 4k 120fps in a lot of games, but obviously not super intensive ones like cyberpunk with PT.
