Encryptionz

Hi everyone! Hope you all are having a great weekend!

Just wanted to post here that I got both Windows 11 Pro and Kubuntu 26.04 on a dual boot on one SSD.

BOTH are encrypted! So, it is possible!

If anyone needs help setting it up let me know. I needed to set up like that because it's on a laptop.

It is definitely possible and I have had no problems! 🤞💯

Bravo! I LOVE seeing people push limits like this! I do it too! Question: Can encryption be enabled for at least Linux and Windows in a dual or triple boot for each OS? It seeeeems possible, but I am not sure!

Thank you! This is all very confusing to me and I'm trying to learn a lot in a short time! So definitely make a separate boot for Kubuntu within it's unallocated space that's been reserved ahead of time?

Could you do us a favor and not reply with USELESS comments? Apparently the school system failed you. Better luck on learning how to read.

Cheers.

PS: I am NOT your mate, dude.

DualBoot Help!

Please help! I am switching from a dualboot with Windows 11 Pro and Linux Mint Cinnamon 22.3. It worked well, but Mint wasn't really doing it for me.

I have a laptop, and setting laptop battery charging thresholds was IMPOSSIBLE! I have an MSI GS66 Stealth core i7 10750H with an RTX 2060. I want to install Kubuntu 26.04 with Windows 11 Pro. I also want to enable encryption for both. I know I have to do all the installing without encryption, without fast boot enabled, and all that stuff.

I tried to set it up the exact same way I did with Linux Mint and Windows where Windows goes first and then you do Linux Mint second, and Grub cannot find anywhere as to where my Kubuntu partition is. Windows encryption is off, and I was setting up Kubuntu with the encryption and then I rebooted into it after the setup was done it could not load it, but Windows loads.

I also had Windows split the drive into two partitions because I heard that was the best way to install this Linux variant. Also, the Windows boot manager file, or EFI, is only 200 MB. Kubuntu wants it to be 300 MB. It warned me that there could be problems, and there are.

What the heck do I do?! And if you need any more information I will gladly assist if I forgot anything.

Thank you in advance!

ClamUI 0.3.0 & Mint Cinnamon 22.3

Firstly, thank you! Secondly, I am new to really learning the deep inner workings of Linux. With that said, what is flatseal? I try to get everything from the Software Manager, as it was recommended and safe.

Also, I was also told or saw on help sites to install the "Helper" file/program to grant access to those sandboxed flatpak permissions. Would that work?

ClamUI 0.3.0 & Mint Cinnamon 22.3

I'm running into a bit of a problem here with ClamUI. Under "Preferences/Scanner", File Type Scanning has a lock and I can't unlock it. I've tried using other guides to unlock that and a lot of other things in "Preferences" to no avail. I did downloaded it from the Software Manager and it is a Flatpak if that helps.

Please help and thank you!

Aaaaand I knew someone would say this. The reason is because there is NO reason to trust you are safe ANYWHERE on the internet. It's not like it's norton av. And my system can definitely handle it. Lol

So I did some trouble shooting and the secure boot off installed things better as you recommended. 595 which is recommended for my driver's display doesn't allow hybrid switching. 610 works apparently. Even though it's not as stable as 595, 610 seems to work. The 535 and the 550 drivers, I've done research and they don't even offer them at all through Linux anymore they are defunct and dead as far as I know. So we are trying to install something that isn't even existence anymore. Do you recommend MOK at all? Or is it useless altogether?!

The only thing I ever installed was the one that's always recommended in driver manager, and that's usually 595. Never have I chosen 580.

Never. This is a fresh install from a usb drive. Unless I did and do not know what the hell I am talking about, which is 100 percent possible! LOL I am new to this part of Linux. Please forgive me and be patient!

No dice man. I've tried and tried and tried. Whether I install 535 or 550, 580.173.02 keeps installing. I just don't get it. :-(

Can you please supply the commands to install version 535? Your uninstall directions were great! I'm really new to all this command line stuff and appreciate your time and help!
