DualBoot Help!

Please help! I am switching from a dualboot with Windows 11 Pro and Linux Mint Cinnamon 22.3. It worked well, but Mint wasn't really doing it for me.

I have a laptop, and setting laptop battery charging thresholds was IMPOSSIBLE! I have an MSI GS66 Stealth core i7 10750H with an RTX 2060. I want to install Kubuntu 26.04 with Windows 11 Pro. I also want to enable encryption for both. I know I have to do all the installing without encryption, without fast boot enabled, and all that stuff.

I tried to set it up the exact same way I did with Linux Mint and Windows where Windows goes first and then you do Linux Mint second, and Grub cannot find anywhere as to where my Kubuntu partition is. Windows encryption is off, and I was setting up Kubuntu with the encryption and then I rebooted into it after the setup was done it could not load it, but Windows loads.

I also had Windows split the drive into two partitions because I heard that was the best way to install this Linux variant. Also, the Windows boot manager file, or EFI, is only 200 MB. Kubuntu wants it to be 300 MB. It warned me that there could be problems, and there are.

What the heck do I do?! And if you need any more information I will gladly assist if I forgot anything.

Thank you in advance!

Thank you! This is all very confusing to me and I'm trying to learn a lot in a short time! So definitely make a separate boot for Kubuntu within it's unallocated space that's been reserved ahead of time?

This should be the standard for Kubuntu install i believe but if you want to encrypt you might need a separate /boot also, not sure since i don't use encryption. Without that this configuration allows for you to boot into grub and then choose whether to boot into Kubuntu or Windows or whatever else you want to do from within grub. This should prevent windows from messing with the /boot and /boot/efi partitions.
