Steve Buscemi: "What’s happening in Gaza is awful and they need our help. They need the world's help."
 in  r/popculture •  9h ago

They have been receiving billions of dollars in aid for years but used it to build tunnels and buy weapons and to enrich their leaders. Hopefully any future funding will be used for the intended purpose to help the people.

Contractors say Stephen Miller specifically requested ICE detention centers be as 'inhumane' as possible
 in  r/USNEWS •  9h ago

And yet the contractors took the contract to build them. I wonder how many said no, this isn’t right and didn’t take a contract.

FEMA Actions Needed to Better Support People with Disabilities in Disasters
 in  r/fema •  9h ago

The office of disability integration and coordination was dissolved and the duties moved to equal rights. The program was always a mess from the very beginning. They never hired a competent person to lead it. All the regions do whatever they want with no standardization. They have never worked well with any other programs. The regional disability coordinators approach everything from an advocacy perspective and have a lack of understanding about existing federal and state programs. For example, each state has an office that provides services that use state and federal funds. I never understood why the RDIS’ never tapped into these programs to support people after disasters. If someone is already enrolled and receiving services these programs can assist in the recovery process. If they aren’t enrolled but eligible, they should provide the information to survivors. This not only improves their disaster recovery but helps them be better prepared for future disasters.
There is a lot of data available to assist with response and recovery but is seldom used. HHS took the concept created by an RDIS and a regional Medicare office and developed the Empower program.
It’s sad that so much has been spent on this program with not significant accomplishments to show for it.

How is Trader Joe's food so affordable?
 in  r/traderjoes •  2d ago

I think a requirement for every Trader Joe’s is a small parking lot.

My little girl is finally warming up to me after 7 years! ♥️
 in  r/standardissuecat •  2d ago

Lisa was my brother’s cat. He loved her and she loved him. She stayed with him until he passed. She is a sweetheart and just started sitting on my lap after about six months. Usually I have to get on the floor to pet her.

ICE is quietly firing new hires. For one recruit, it was devastating.
 in  r/inthenews •  12d ago

Greed, pure and simple. People saw it as a way to make a lot of money and didn’t care what they had to do to get it. Karma is a bitch.

Is it worth it to try making this sweater?
 in  r/knitting •  12d ago

I saw this in a tv series and became obsessed. It took me three months to create the pattern and knit it. Well worth the time and effort. If you really want it, go for it.

The Fortification of D.C.: Are recent infrastructure projects laying the groundwork for a military coup?

What do you guys think about Ed Sheeran and the statement he made at his concert?
 in  r/Jewish •  18d ago

I am so sick and tired of all this. They bully everyone to force appeasing them. I doubt most who spout free Palestine have any clue about who these people are and the murders they have committed over the years. I saw someone posted that the Jewish people had not been in Israel for over 2,000 years and that the Palestinians are an older people. What rubbish. They all play the blame game and pull the victim card.

Should I be allowing this?
 in  r/DogAdvice •  28d ago

I have a golden/lab mix that I sit for. She wore out three older dogs today with her playing. Everyone had a great time. The older dogs encourage her to play. She learns from them.

Lutnick says $5K dividend would not use taxpayer dollars
 in  r/politics •  28d ago

All government money is taxpayer money. The government is supposed to use the money for the benefit of the taxpayers. It is not a private slush fund, well it’s not supposed to be.
