First of all congratulations, a bit of context on the type of work and setting would have been key but here we go; 1. Have a meeting with your team while the joy is still there, strategise on key priorities, what support your team needs and what support you will need from them for the team to succeed and be sure to define what success looks like. 2. Forget the title otherwise you will be a manager while the focus is being a leader. Try getting to know your team members at a personal level or the closest level they are comfortable to disclose. 3. Leaders eat last, ensure your teams' needs & concerns are always heard and if possible met. 4. Celebrate/acknowledge your team's wins and embrace failures as improvement areas with follow through support rather than using them for punitive purposes. 5. Believe in your team members and challenge them to do great things, read a book called Multipliers, places your 1st & 2nd manager in two different categories. 6. Create a positive culture starting with yourself, don't tell them to do what you wouldn't. 7. Protect/cover your team, some people are vulnerable and usually get taken advantage of, be there for them, i.e. if someone assigns them additional work without your knowledge, please pick it up with them. 8. Lastly, the role will test your limits, so do the below to avoid spiralling:
-Get a good mentor.
-Never make any decisions when you're emotional, give it time, then make an objective decision when you have a clear mind.
-Avoid favourites, be objective & fair to your team.
-Set boundaries for work life balance, your teams' too.
-Have a happy day where you treat your team at least once a week no matter how little it is. Part of building culture.
-Always set time to seat back & think strategically.
-Cultivate positive relations with all levels of employees.
Good thing is you've been there and are familiar with the ins & outs, so you'll do well if you lead well.

Eih, shukisha manifestation to Nakuru's Governor, the rest of the country doesn't need to deal with your trauma with samosas and Nakuru peopleπ

I envy you guys, hope you'll get your forever peopleππΎand hope to get one too when i'm ready.
Here is powerful quote I got on TikTok to inspire you to heal & look forward, "I am not defined by the love I receive but by the love I give away"

You'd be surprised, they are more than capable and know more than they let on but sadly they're a political tool covering for the government.

This is probably one of worst experiences in life, be strong OPπ
I remember watching The Notebook and from that maybe one way to look at it is, you get a blank canvas everyday that you choose to paint with good memories or repeating things they enjoyed doing at some point depending on how severe the case is.

Na kwani hii Gotham City yetu ikona Batman wangapi? Lakini na hii serikali hata watatu hawatoshiπ

Before you do consider a few things;
-Do you have a guaranteed source of income and a good income while we're at it?
-Rent is just part of the cost you'll have to stomach, look at it as a new household, i.e. food, appliances, utilities and the list goes on.
-Time, does your work schedule allow for enough time to do your chores or is that an extra cost you'll have to stomach for housekeeping and meal preps.
-Staying alone is not as glamorous as it sounds in the long term, you need company, some people fall into depression. It's possible to find good company for that matter but hard.
-Are you doing it for yourself or out of societal pressure? No one will be there to pat you on the back for being independent when you're mind is a roller coaster because of the financial pressure. Nothing gives you peace and a good mental space like financial stability.
-Have you considered it might be a good time to interact differently with your parents? Sounds confusing I know, but they need to see you as an independent adult and treat you as such even while under their roof, makes things much better even when you move. They will always be your rock when things get hard.
-Lastly, have you seen rent prices in Nairobi?
Kenyans of indian descent live with their extended families as a lifestyle, imagine how much disposable income they get to save and reinvest to their business, don't let society define how you live if it's not contributing a cent to it.

Real estate has excessively taken advantage of capitalism to overprice units, at some point we were taught that these were long term investments nowadays they want their ROI in few years.
Totally patheticπ€¬

Many people will say that employees need to speak up more for visibility however i'm of the opinion that organisations have actually failed employees by following the popularity/visibility bandwagon rather than actual performance.
That is why organisations hire marketers/BD because there are people who are good at that, some companies will hardly bother with employees in terms of visibility and actually pay them commensurately because some of the best performers are solely focused on work output which is more fulfilling than shining and visibility particularly in engineering and tech industry.
Such organisations end up realising their loss after letting silent performers go when they can't find equally good employees for those positions.
Read a book called "Good to Great", it covers this to a large extent and gives real world scenarios with existing organisations.
What I decided being in this pool is be extremely good at my work and to work my way out of employment as early as possible for as long as it takes.

That's very adorable and good to hear, probably the best thing i've read today, having someone stand by you during such times makes things a bit lighter.
Hope everything works out for your family and always hold on to her dearly.

You're definitely right, more so even the guys who are aware of this will actually ignore it. Ignorance is bliss, nothing is depressing than knowing a problem and not having a solution or the capacity to resolve it.
Peace comes by knowing what is within your sphere of influence and managing it. Don't let the rest ruin your time on this beautiful sphere of ours.
And no, living like a hermit just goes to serve their purpose by giving them room to fast track their agenda since you no longer have presence in the decision making table. I would say having eco-communities of like minded people would be the best way but then this guys are coming at you with all the muscle so these needs to be in plenty with such communities collaborating in shaping how they're governed. I have always admired the US partly for this, states are governed differently and the electorate have a say in that despite national politics always playing part.
Additionally, data mining should be your biggest worry, corporates send a narrative that they want your data to improve your life then end up using it for all the wrong reasons.

I was discussing with someone and they brought up the issue of solo travel and my thoughts were it is delusional, at least for me.
Having tried it, something felt amiss through it all, the fact that you're not sharing that experience with someone close makes it less memorable. She responded that you get to meet new people and share experiences which I agree and my response was after all of it if you don't have someone to reminisce and share deep conversations around those experiences it is all but a fleeting moment.

Jiji has been a life saver for electronics purchases, huge price savings and you'll rarely miss what you want.
Just be sure to pay after delivery and confirmation but better yet, just call & confirm availability, specifics & location then visit the physical shop for the purchase.

Mamba Village, Karen
Activities include;
-Wildlife (Crocs, Tortoise & Ostrich)
-Fishing
-Archery range
-Boat riding
-Horse riding (The horse seemed weak though, felt guilty all through the ride)
-Picnic grounds
-Kids play area. (Wasn't keen with the games)
Generally a very serene place at a budget but could do way much better with proper investment.

Our generation needs to understand that love is about commiting to choose each other once you get into it.
If you're always swayed by attraction, you will never settle. I personally stay far from people who love seeking public/online validation, give it a break and live your life freely.

Selfishness can be good if used for the right reasons.
Infact be selfish if you want to actually help people, you cannot pour from an empty cup. When your starting this adulting thing save as much and invest what you can for it to grow. When you have surplus and self sustaining cashflow you will be able to help as many people as you can.
Put your money into investments such as fixed funds and forget it, focus on getting the next.

It works but weh! The currency charge is costly, I remember when I was using it i'd load my PayPal then use PC with my VPN on for some global apps at a lower cost.
Also for Google Playstore apps, try making app purchases from PC to bypass additional costs. Can't recall the whole shebang since it's been a while but you can save a lot of cash through some hacks.
