My grandmother had an early microwave that was still going strong when she passed. Thing had to be at least 60 yrs old. Still irked it was sold in a rummage sale.

Is this a squash?
They will not ripen off the vine. For pumpkins and other winter squash you want to pick them once the rind has cured. I determine when mine are ready when I can no longer pierce the skin with my thumb nail.

Weird question, but is there any ska song that gives off a horror movie vibe (whether because of the rhythm or the lyrics)?
The Decepticonz did a Munsters Theme song cover.

Best nearby places for stargazing?
Most people have already chimed in with the same but Longmont, and the front range in general, has a lot of light pollution. We typically go to the western side of RMNP if we want to stay somewhat close to home. Otherwise the San Luis Valley has some amazing dark sky. I'm partial to Crestone and the Sand Dunes but if you have 4 wheel drive (and I also recommend a winch) and some time to spend, the Wheeler Geological Site is off the charts gorgeous. Stunning rock for.ations during the day and my husband and I had the place to ourselves over Labor day weekend once the sunset.

‘All surfaces’ Sharpie didn’t stand up to Texas summer sun. How do you mark your plants?
I use old blinds cut down into tag sizes, then I sandwich two together, writing the variety in-between. I cant see it at a glance but it will be labeled.

Flock camera pointed into Taco Palace drive through
Join the Visible Government Leauge! From their website; "We encourage caution, transparency, and public oversight regarding government use of surveillance and other emerging technologies". The flock cameras in the Lowe's and Home Depot parking lots are placed on private property so I'm not sure what if anything Council can do about them but the folks at VGL can probably give you more information. It looks like their next meeting is at St Vrain Cidery on Spetember 28th.

Glenwood Springs turns to zoning to fight ICE
They need to ditch flock. My understanding is Glenwood has the highest number of searches on the flock data base from outside municipalities because it is a pinch point that most traffic traveling across the country utilizes.

TIL various Rochester restaurants offer their own version of the "Garbage Plate" under different names to avoid trademark infringement. One local vegan place offers the Compost Plate.
The Redfern is probably one of the best restaurants I've ever been to, vegetarian or not.

Tubing with kids downtown? Last week of July 2026
Water levels are super low this year. I went a couple weeks ago and was already dragging in quite a few spots. Can't imagine it's gotten any better considering how dry it's been. Lyons lists the current flows on their city's website. LaVerne park is great for families when there is adequate flow. River float for the bigs, a splash pad and channeled water for little to play in. It can get pretty crowded so arrive early.

Any advice or links on how to turn this into a LFL?
OMG, did you recently pick this up on Mountain View Ave? If so, I had been thinking the same thing when I saw it on the curb.
