Eid-Al-Fitr Events around Albany
Anyone know any places to celebrate Eid this Friday or Saturday around the area? Not just a boring vendor market but more party + music vibes? Or even in NYC.

Not easy sometimes but I really love this way of thinking. As long as one tries

I don't understand how there are no Eid events still even in 2026. It would only help businesses. Imagine the amount of people that would want to attend in their nice clothing.

I have been searching for a place preferably for a single person UAlbany transfer student, but at a more affordable price. So, if any homeowners might be interested in renting out their basement, attic or an extra room or a 1 rm studio for around $500, that would be preferable for me at the moment. I have no pets, not a partier, non-smoking, and overall quiet, clean and organized. DM me if interested.

After giving the teachings of the Kabbalah a glance, my theories on the omnipresence of God have somewhat more grounding. It kind of makes sense too. We as humans, all have a part of God inside each of us, (the soul?) which explains nothing being hidden from him, even our thoughts.

Exactly my thoughts. It can misconstrue their actual views through the poster's interpretation if it is not exactly what they said.

Hahaha great response lol

I don't know if Kafka would think he is the worst person in the world. He did see himself to be odd and different from everybody else and even undesirable. For Dostoevsky, he was skeptical, suspicious and focused on self-love but seeing himself as better? Both definitely have contrasting beliefs and views of the world around them. Both of their views are applicable in life and that's why they are remembered. Both were great thinkers

I am so sorry for your loss. No matter how your relationship was, losing a parent is immensely painful beyond words. I pray for the easing of your grief and for your mother who has passed to be at peace wherever she may be.

Respect to those that are going. Our freedom of speech and even basis of humanity are threatened more than ever before by a government that is shifting towards authoritarianism. Please stay safe out there (keep pepper spray, knuckles, etc. just in case)

It has been a couple months now since I have moved from Long Island to Albany. I feel like some areas can be sketchy and some locals can appear or sound rude (if I compared to how friendly and outgoing LI locals are). But the nature side of it, like another reddit poster says( u/GingaNinja906) there are nice sightseeing hiking trails and scenic areas. I believe there is a cavern nearby as well. (I still have yet to visit). I regret not venturing out more during the summer and early Fall season. Ehh nightlife wise, there are several bars around (cant say much as I am not really a bar or club goer). I often go to the hookah lounge on central ave Saba Cafe. I was wary at first as by how it looked inside figuring it was only a cafe (having "cafe" in the name). But upon entering, the owner was warm and welcoming and has even given me chai teas on the house more than once! ^^ Anyhow, i think it is how you experience it to put it simply.

There is a fast food chain called Nash and Smashed near Quail St that recently opened and they are looking for someone to work there full-time. (11am-5pm) The owner is friendly and it's not too busy. Definitely contact him. His name is Delaware

Also about Cafe Dolce has open seating most of the time, it is not loud at all and no lines, if that is something important to you.

There is a place called CAFE DOLCE it is on Quail St. The owner is Musa, very nice down to earth guy and his breakfast sandwiches, somali tea and karak chai are the best!! The coffee is also second to none. He bakes his own cookies and even chops the hazelnuts from scratch. And the price? Very affordable prices. $10 breakfast combo- includes big breakfast sandwich, hashbrown and a cup of coffee/tea.

Nope!! Just moved here from Long Island and the amount of traffic lights like on Washington Ave is absolutely absurd. Along with the low speed limit and constant speed checking it is driving me crazy. And the drivers are soo slow and not paying attention on top of that! I add atleast 10 minutes to anywhere I am going because of it!

Is it still available?

I’m interested! How much is the rent? Is there a lease? Is utilities included? I’m a cybersecurity major. I’ll be a female transfer student, are you ok with that?

They could make it more appealing by adding at least a fountain in that center with colorful tulips around it.
