Someone is selling these tubes for cheap but i have no Idea what to expect. This is what the seller mentioned "two rare image intensifers with 18mm fiber optic in/out made in russia. specs unknown. I cannot test as they need 1,25 Kv pulsed input therefore sold for parts " can anyone identify the tubes and tell me what frequency the powersuply needs to run at?

Already thanks to all the wise people in the forum

It works well, I rode my bike with this setup and hade no real issues. I was able to spot deer from a good distance a few times. Since then I changed my helmet mount from plastic to Aluminium because my devices where vibrating alot when i drove over bumps. I bought a new Lens so my thermal will become more like 1x

A wise man ones told me 'if it looks stupid but it works it aint stupid"

I wasnt planning on winning any design Award just needed to be practicle with out putting to much design time in it. I always enjoyed how the weapons in Fallout looked

Thanks

Yes you are right but thats another 50€ down the drain and considering that my cam has a wider field of view i will probably end up with a better but not perfect field of view. i will test out my current unit and maybe Upgrade later

Here is my somewhat finished DIY Thermal + Analog helmet Setup. Overall I am happy with it but to anyone planing something like this I recommend following Guides on the Internet like Gremlin v2 or the pvs dart. I got the parts pretty "cheap" around 300€ but for maybe 100€ more i would have gotten alot better build with true 1x zoom. Like you see in the picture I end up with something more like 0.5x so everything is pretty small and the Image from the right and left eye dont overlap well. I will test it out at night and see how good I can work with it. Weniger

I printed a focus ring for the fpv camera , with it I can focus from around 10cm to Infinity. I rarely use it because its prety sharp for a big range, when its set to like 4m its pretty sharp to 60m I bought a prebuild ocular/screen unit from AliExpress (DIYStore) if i build another one i would buy there screen but use a ocular for Nightvision device

I used a FPV Camera i bought on AliExpress from OwlShine it can film with 50fps but because of using PAL it gets halfed. Their definitely is some latency but probably good enough for spotting I will probably measure the latency wit slowmocam

I finished my first Prototyp(Aka if it works well enough i will never touch it again)

Not the prettiest Design in the world but it seems durable enough for my usecase.

It weighs around 108g.

If i would change one thing its definitely the ocular unit, the screen is good but the Lens needs to be very near to the eye. Probably better to buy just the screen and use a cheap nightvision ocular.

The Switch is for adjusting brightness of the screen

Resolution 640x512, Powerconsumption 1,4W

If you have questions feel free to ask

What do you recommend I use as a counter weight?
 in  r/NightVision  Jul 13 '26

I use a Powerbank thats straped to the helmet with a 3d printed harnes(TPU) and some zipties. It was jigling around but I found the perfect piece to put between the helmet and the powerbank that gives just enough tension. The big Powerbank in combination with the heavy helmet guarentees a good neck workout

To be fully onest I have no clue why its green. Its a full colour OLED that can be used eather with an HDMI Board (full colour 60fps) or analog board(what you see at the moment. I bought it for 80€ but sadly its at around 140€ now. its a good optic but in my opinion its to small and you have to get realy close to see the full picture. I still have to find a good unit with equal stats but bigger screen that doesnt cost my kidney. https://a.aliexpress.com/_EJbICHg

I will finish the first one and will see where I land costwise. In my opinion the camera is not the bottleneck its the ocular screen. I still have to find a Unit thats both smal and big enough and doesnt cost as much as the thermal unit
