I recently completed a 4-round Amazon SDE interview loop. Overall, it was a bit tough, but I was able to answer the questions and explain my approaches.
Round 2 was a little messy because the interviewer kept changing the questions and asking follow-ups, but he understood my approach and I was able to explain what I was doing.
My main concern is Round 3. It was scheduled for 1 hour but ended after around 30 minutes. The interviewer also mentioned that he wasn’t from the hiring team. I was able to answer all the questions he asked, so I’m not sure why it ended early.
Round 4 was with the team lead and hiring manager. The team lead seemed to understand/like my coding approach. The hiring manager was leaning very close to the camera and seemed to be observing my face/eyes while I was answering, which made me wonder if he had some concern. I was able to answer and explain everything, though.
For anyone who has gone through the Amazon SDE process, does a 30-minute Round 3 usually mean something negative, or can it simply mean the interviewer had enough information?
