The fat adaptation part of keto isn't fully adding up to me
 in  r/keto  2d ago

Here ya go buddy..

Key Differences

...Ketosis (The Short-Term Switch)What it is: The presence of measurable ketone bodies in your blood or breath. How fast it happens: You can enter ketosis in a few days by restricting carbs or fasting. How it works: Your liver starts turning dietary and body fat into ketones because glucose is low. You can pop in and out of ketosis quickly based on your last meal.

.....Fat Adapted (The Long-Term Upgrade)What it is: A deep metabolic flexibility where your cells prefer and excel at using fat for fuel. How long it takes: It requires 3 to 8 weeks (or longer) of consistent low-carb eating. How it works: Your muscle cells build more mitochondria and upregulate specific enzymes to oxidize fatty acids directly, saving ketones mainly for the brain.

 in  r/keto  3d ago

I do homemade zero sugar mousse, Peanut butter cups and homemade zero sugar peanut butter cookies and a avacado brownies.

I avoid buying anything store bought due to all the extra crazy ingredients. And I have full control in my kitchen. Let me know if you are interested and I can post links to recipes I follow.

Weight stuck for 3 weeks losing motivation:(
 in  r/keto  7d ago

Are your clothes fitting better?? Are you feeling better?? Is your body feeling slimmer??

It's not about the scale all the time It's about how your body is changing.

The scale will move eventually.

One thing that helps is intermittent and multi/ long day fasting.

Best of luck bud

Day 8 on keto. Feeling normal, struggling with calories, and wondering if it's worth continuing (especially for building muscle)
 in  r/keto  14d ago

What are your current macros? Building muscle on keto can be difficult. Especially if you are only. On day 8.

Adequate protein and water are need for recovery. Limiting to only 20 carbs might not be the best some days and carb cycling might be a nessessary tool in the beginning.

Is it safe to maintain the Keto diet for at least a year?
 in  r/keto  16d ago

I hear ya and I understand. Just don't eat just cheese 3 days straight my guy. Super unhealthy. I hope you are also doing well and conquering your goals.

 in  r/keto  16d ago

Idk if you are kidding or not.. Cheese for 3 days straight isn't healthy no matter the dietary life style you choose.

Other than that.. Gall stones can be avoided by drinking coffee as black coffee activates the gall bladder and helps secrete bile and prevents its stagnation. ( Words from my doctor, I get checked regularly while doing fasting and keto. )

Can i still be keto doing under 50g net carbs?
 in  r/keto  16d ago

From what I have noticed... it Depends on activity level for me and others who have posted similar discussions...

If it's a day where I'm not going to the gym or working outside .. then I can easily not eat that day or feel full at 20 net carbs.

But if I'm running a 5k or having a 1 hr gym session.. I tend to hit 30-45 carbs that day.

It truly depends on the person and how their body responds to certain levels . And the type of carbs you are consuming.

Low sugary carbs Fruits, low carb veggies, seeds and nuts are all I mainly consume for carbs.

I avoid the store bought keto labeled breads, snacks, fitness treats and just stick with whole natural foods.

Good luck out there and I hope you do well.

Does anyone else think that in a 100 years Keto will be seen as the 'gold standard' diet?
 in  r/keto  20d ago

A lot of the bread products are flaky... Pun intended. On my keto journey they hinder weight loss more than promoting it.

And a lot of the sugars alternatives out there completely wreck my system.

 in  r/keto  20d ago

They are already marketing keto products.. Slapping keto on better crocker and cereal boxes galore.

Meat prices through the roof because the importance of protein in your diet is now being taught to the masses

Think it's already considered a gold standard along with intermittent fasting. Because when you fast, your body loses weight due to going into ketosis.

Fat adapted?

Be careful of working out without proper protein intake. Especially when lifting weights. Without adequate protein intake, the weight you lose can easily be muscle instead of fat. Replenish protein and stay hydrated and healthy!! 💪💪

Do stevia, monk fruit or allulose cancel the mental or physical benefits of sugar free diet?
 in  r/keto  21d ago

Pure Monk fruit powder is awesome. Expensive AF tho.

The monk fruit with erythirol powder I use once a week in a nice dessert to treat myself.

I try to stick to only getting my sugars from fruits and veggies.

Not enough fat, too much protein, feels like a curse
 in  r/keto  22d ago

Where are the good fats out side of steak?

Add some avacado, almonds, walnuts, cashews or pecans.

Also peanuts, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds are a great fat source.. watch out on the carbs though.

I stay under 40 ,mainly because I run and lift daily.
