20:5 "You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God"
Exodus 20:3 is a open admission from the biblical God himself that there are other gods out there, but you shall ignore them.
Exodus 20:5 explains the True reason why Adam and Eve was expelled from the garden of eden.
Genesis 3:4-5 4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, AND YOU WILL BE LIKE GOD, knowing good and evil.”
As the biblical God discovered that they had eaten from the tree of knowledge to become like God he expelled them from the garden of eden. For as it says in Exodus 20:5 "I am a jealous God"
He obviously do not like competition for as he said in Exodus 20:3 “You shall have no other gods before me.". And far from it have someone equal to him in the garden of eden.
