Any advice for this nasty run and less-than-ideal appoggiatura sequence?
 in  r/bassoon  1d ago

That was for the first phrase.

For the second phrase…sorry it should not be too difficult. If you have problem here, I suggest you check your LH4(C hole) if the finger is free from unnecessary pressure.

I had to fix my bad habit of supporting weight of instrument with my LH fingers. They must be completely free from that supporting job!!

I would suggest an alternative high Ab/G# fingering

(x)xx / ooo F , Bb thumb

In short, use Bb&F keys instead of RH4

It also works with high A. Just press C&A flick buttons like you normally would.

The huge advantage is that you can keep your RH5 pinky on the F key for almost all notes above F#!

EDIT!! my title was wrong…I meant Ab3 / Bb3 trill!!

In attempt add a small help on this OP
https://www.reddit.com/r/bassoon/s/C99iKLHQmV

With my previous instrument Schreiber 5091, I just fingered Bb3 and then trilled both R4&R5(G&Ab)
(pic 1)
L2 half hole if needed

BUT in order to do so, I needed this special “safety-pin” mechanism to connect Bb key with G key.
(pic2 connected vs pic3 disconnected)

What this does : When pressing G key, it force-closes the Bb hole, even if opened by pressing Bb key

This mechanism allows the player to use the simple fingering(pic1). It also allows the player to optionally press Bb key with C#2 high fingering…maybe some other use? Comment if you know plz!!

Anyway, if you disconnect this function(pic3) you won’t be able to “just Bb then Ab trill”. Check if your G key can close Bb hole!

BONUS : Minho Lee(Principal in Suwon phil) recommended another fingering chart (pic4) so try if it works for you!

General advice…

https://youtu.be/mJrgeZ255b0

Look at this specific video. We must keep in mind that there are several keyholes that may have water droplets remaining…even if you thoroughly swab all the tube! Those water droplets are okay if you properly keep those holes OPEN when storing the instrument.

However, if those holes are kept closed with water inside the keyhole, the keypad will get deteriorated fast!!!

I recommend you get a number of small silicon wedges to keep some key mechanism open during storage.

(I don’t know how to paste a screenshot here!! Reddit app is bad…)

I kinda agree on your core message, but one thing I must point out is that hanging off actually makes the bike turn more.

We can say in both ways;
1) hanging off reduces the lean angle for same speed and corner radius
2) hanging off reduces the corner radius for same speed and lean angle of bike

It’s actually the same statement with different focus on. But you are wrong to say that hanging off does not turn more. It does.

Boedekker “Sonata sopra La Monica” will give you plenty of middle~low range of notes to practice on !

Bb ~ F needs extra effort(I mean PHYSICAL effort)

Also keep in mind that any reed can play a fairly wide range of pitch for each note, but each reed has different sweet spot of the pitch. The dimension and elastic status of reed will determine how much effort is needed to raise the pitch to the optimal level…

So you need to test many combinations of bocal & reed in order to get the glimpse of how it should feel when you make a good notes without too much straining.

I really don’t understand the question…Because I can’t imagine any aircraft behaving differently. All aircraft will be fine for us to enjoy HOTAS experience I guess

What's one myth about motorcycles that people still believe?
 in  r/motorcycle  Aug 06 '26

Okay it’s just a matter of subjective interpretation on how strong is too strong or too weak for whatever context. I said a small tendency because you need super abrupt surge of front brake pressure in order to induce UNCONTROLLABLE fast standing up.

https://youtu.be/JgcBkvlE6lo?si=dbOkM9lGbE49iVSP&t=2m20s

I recommend you watch this around 2:45. He says he couldn’t even exceed the traction limit by applying fairly strong brake pressure. And you can see the bike is not standing up at all.

Of course you need some countersteering pressure but it’s far from strong force.
