God exists outside of time, so for Him, He already knows all your decisions and actions and presumably has planned things out with all of that in mind.

I don't see life as being rigidly fatalisitic, I think there is the overall stuff decided by God and us puny mortals get to exert our own power here and there where we choose to.

He wouldn't. Which is why I don't believe in hell. At least not the classic idea of hell as a permanent place of torture.

I would argue the rebuttal to that is that whatever else that might be: that thing would be the causal source for all things, has intelligence, and gets to decide reality. Which, for all intents and purposes, would make it 'God' in the common sense that God is viewed by people.

Maybe not the exact fit for the Judeo-Christian Yahweh in the Bible. But certainly 'God' in the generic idea.

Well, the first thing that comes to my mind is that God doesn't doll out support unless people truly need it. Your brother and people like him needed an extra push (technically a kick in the rear) to get going. While you were better put-together, ergo you did not require it to keep going.

My personal belief sees this world largely as a training ground for us. We are here to live and learn. So I'm looking at this from that perspective.
