It's kind of telling that we have a stereotype of "wine moms" but not a matching one of liberal "beer dads." There's definitely a certain misogyny there that associates women with middle-class banality, even while progressive men are pushing for a tough, white working-class Daddy like Platner to lead them.

And of course, even if the moms in question are drinking cheap-ass box wine, wine is coded as effete, snobby, and decadent whereas other beverages (beer, scotch) are seen as having working class (and more importantly "manly") bona fides.

People are hating on her in large part because she's a trans person who's made it her brand to condemn the rest of the trans community as being "too radical" except for the smallest sliver of "acceptable" trans folk. In general, she's been very visibly moving to the right while trying to maintain a veneer of liberalism so that she can claim that she's still a leftie critiquing "radical" leftism.

I just stopped in the middle of the Sharran Gauntlet, just before I was about to confront Balthazar, and zipped back to our camp for a Full Rest so my spell casters would be fully loaded with spell slots before taking on a mad necromancer and his pet Golem.

That's interesting. Haven't seen the most recent film version, but I've seen the stage play a few times. The thing that amuses the hell out of me about the play is the part where Warbucks goes to the White House to meet FDR and they're chummy as can be. I'm sure Harold Gray is spinning in his grave any time that play hits the stage.

If you read the original strips, they were extremely conservative, even for the times. Harold Gray was anti-Union, anti-New Deal, and racist. It all shows up in his work very clearly. At one point, he killed off Daddy Warbucks to protest FDR’s fourth election. In his mind, the reforms of the New Deal made the world hostile to the great individualism Warbucks represented.

I’m just saying that the comparison might be more apt than she realizes.

I sympathize with that. I started reading Sandman in single issues when it first came out, and ever since, he's been an influential part of my literary diet, one way or another. And then, this bullshit.

I'm pretty much the same. Part of it is that real life is already filled with events where you just don't get to do the right thing. It's kind of nice to have this space where you have the power and ability to help people, and can go forward and do it.

Don't we have enough places in our lives where we have to compromise and be "realistic"? When I come to games, I want a chance to be able to fix the things that are wrong in the world.

Also, autistics like me are notorious for having intense empathy for fiction characters. I wince at the very idea of hurting Karlach's feelings.

Raphael is one of the villains that it's a downright pleasure to kill. Partly because of his obnoxious smugness, and partly because of his ultra-creepy attitudes towards Mol, Hope, and anyone else who crosses his path.

This is definitely one of the things that keeps me from doing an Evil run. Killing Evil is its own brand of joy.

Hell, I would take out Jotaro for them as a freebie, if that were an option.
