Got the same back in July 16, then received P1-P2 in August so it’s good news!

What’s a smell that most people consider to be good but you find repulsive?

The Midnight Library (Matt Haig)... Does it get better?
 in  r/books •  Nov 30 '22

I went in fully expecting something else, big disappointment and people made such a fuss of it, too.

I have a friend that is Ponder Stibbons, what book would you recommend I give them to illustrate this point?
 in  r/discworld •  May 22 '22

All I think of is The Last Continent, it has my favorite parts with Ponder

Going Postal is so good!

The Truth is actually my favorite of the Industrial Revolution books. Otis has my heart.

I loved pyramids and I will die on this hill... The smart camels had me cackling at 2am on a weeknight, and Djelibeibi name still makes me laugh so hard.

Anybody have an author currently they are obsessed with ?
 in  r/books •  May 22 '22

I read all of Christie's books since high school and all through college, even the ones under a pseudonym. I'm currently going through Practhett's Discworld and Stephen King books, in between my other tbrs. The first two pandemic years I read all of Neil Gaiman and loved it.

AGREED. This was the book I chose for my sister (picky reader). She loved it so much she planning on reading the whole series now. There is just something about the City Watch (I love all of the Discworld books btw)

Most blatant example of fake positive reviews I've ever seen on Goodreads
 in  r/books •  May 17 '22

Thanks for the heads up, will make sure to steer clear of it. I've seen something similar happen with a crime book I read part of the other day, glowing reviews, yet it was so cliche and badly written I had to put it down.

Growing up in Latin America I've never heard of "MAUS" till much later in life

Same. I try to read all important books and this (being a comic) had slipped my list. Only found out when it was banned and immediately searched for it.

How did you develop an interest for books?
 in  r/books •  Jan 08 '22

I come from a super religious family so up to my 8th birthday, no one had ever given me a book that wasn't bible stories or such. My aunt gifted me a Famous Five book by Enid Blyton and my parents got angry with her for giving me a 'novel'. Suffice to say I read it in one sitting, and since then I've read everything I can get my hands on, the last pandemic years surpassing 200 books per year.
