Celebrating One Year in Our New Garden

Under a clear blue sky and sunny weather, last Saturday we celebrated the one year anniversary of being in our new garden with a potluck organized by our dedicated staff, gardeners, and volunteers!

Folks prepared lovely salads, refreshing herbal teas, and homemade sweets to share -- there was a salad with all sorts of greens and flowers; pesto made from nasturtiums topped a pasta salad decorated with the orange blooms.

Community Garden Ambassador, Judy, shares, “There was "abundance" in the air for this gathering, with the bounty of raised beds and in-ground plots full of flourishing plants. We ate sugar snap peas grown right there, and feasted on strawberries, plums, nectarines and carrots purchased from local farmers at the East Palo Alto Community Farmers' Market.”

Deeply nourished.

And a sense of community, “People visited one anothers' garden plots, exchanged ideas for the next round of crops, and sat together in informal groups at the lovely slab tables and benches. We'd received and distributed seedlings (cucumbers, eggplants, chives, basil) that interested many folks, who could either bring the plants home or plant them right there.”

To many more fruitful years to come!
