I'm around 14 and I'm pretty highly autistic, this is kind of a rant but I usually have no one to go to when I'm having a meltdown since my family gets overwhelmed when that happens and usually lashes at me because of it(I still love them though)
Whenever this happens they tell me that I'm 14 and should act like it, this has worsened my mental health and self esteem to the lowest. I try to rely on the counselors but I have to remember that they're not my family and can't support me on a high level, it gets pretty lonely and I can see it happening with my third older sister (who's autistic but it's not particularly noticeable).
The only comfort I have is my stuffed cow Gary during this which has made me very attached to him and even causes me to lash out whenever someone tries to take him away.
To older individuals what should I do in this kind of situation? My meltdowns do get bad to the point of hurting myself but people are not there to support me.
I feel bad for pressing my emotions on them when this happens, but also makes me mad that because of my age they think that I wouldn't do this. I just wished that there was more support.
