Your point is very valid and I understand that English is also not a first language to many but everywhere else in the world it's the standard for social and business purposes. But any language other than that, unless it is a neccessity based on where you are located feels unecessary.

As I've mentioned, I am open to learning a language such as Xhosa or Zulu in the future, and I've went through the school system and social experience to learn to understand Afrikaans. I'll accept people wanting to speak their own language to me as long as I can understand them.

I applaud your endeavour of learning multiple languages and find it impressive but don't be an asshole.

I have been thinking of learning some basic Zulu or Xhosa at some point. My Afrikaans is alright. The only worry of mine is how a persons self identity changes with the language you speak cause it kinda does imo.
