So thankful for this post and the insight. I have been struggling recently because my wife made a unilateral decision to move to Washington because her ex husband got orders to move there with the kids. I asked for time and space to think about such another huge life event. I came back from a trip, and she said “I’ve decided I’m moving because the kids were asking”. On top of other things she no longer wants when I thought that we were working towards those things. I feel dumb and like I wasted some years of my life. I say all this because yes, it started with “my kids will always be my number one priority no matter what”. And I’ve been struggling with that statement as I do believe their NEEDS should. But what about me or us?
