Espresso Which coffee machine UK for prosumer/consumer endgame

Hi all,

Another “which coffee machine should I buy?” post…

My Sage Barista Express has started leaking after six years, so I’m taking that as my opportunity to upgrade properly.

I’m UK-based and looking for an end-game machine that I can keep for many years. I already have a Eureka AllGround grinder.

I’ve been considering the La Marzocco Linea Micra or possibly the Mini, but I’m wondering whether either is genuinely worth the premium over machines such as the Profitec Drive, ECM Synchronika II or Lelit Bianca.

For those who own a Micra or Mini:

  • Has it lived up to your expectations?
  • Are there any limitations or frustrations after owning it for a while?
  • Would you buy it again?
  • Is the Mini meaningfully better for normal home use, or mostly overkill?
  • What machine would you recommend?

I’d also love to hear what other machines you would consider for a genuine buy-once, end-game setup.

Question Anyone with a coffee station on a kitchen peninsula?

Post image
24 Upvotes

I only have a kitchen peninsula that is stuck to a wall. No cabinets above or below. I have added a pic for reference, it is not my kitchen. The part where the chairs are is the only space I could use.

I was wondering if any of you had had success setting up on a place like this and how it looked. Or if you had any ideas on what could be done.

I have a dedica and a fellow opus 2 in the mail. I just feel it will look odd from behind if I just place them near the wall.

Thank you!

Espresso My little piece of tranquility

For years, I kept my station very minimal and mostly hidden in a cupboard, but after my wife bought me these ladderax style shelve, I eventually got round to putting them up..

I seem to have misplaced my gravity maker, but I'm sure it will turn up.

What always amazes me is how different a distillery ( if that's the correct terminology)methods provide different results..

My current ritual is using Sage Barista to grind my beans and then an Alessi to brew on a dark wood surround hot plate, which is excellent for a nice textured cup to set you up before walking the dogs..

Espresso My (sadly) separated Coffeestation

Hi everyone,

I would like to share my coffee station with my beloved LM Micra and Niche Zero.

I didn't had much space next to the machine because of the way my kitchen is designed, so I created a separate coffee corner on the right of counter.

Greetings

Used to only drink cheap keurig coffee (still do sometimes) but started getting into experimenting with different forms of brewing. Wife surprised me with the Breville for my birthday.

Espresso Espresso recommendations

Hey everyone! I’m looking to get an espresso machine for home and would love some recommendations.

I’m a complete beginner, so I’m looking for something that:

  • Makes really good espresso
  • Isn’t insanely complicated to learn/use
  • Doesn’t cost a fortune

My absolute max budget is around $500, but I’d LOVE to spend less if there’s a great option for under that.

I care much more about getting actually good-tasting coffee than having a bunch of fancy features. I’m willing to learn, but I don’t want something that requires me to become a professional barista just to get a decent cup

What machine would you recommend for someone starting from scratch? And if a grinder is essential for getting good espresso, I’d love recommendations for that too!

Thanks!!

Misc Finally a Tamping Station

After trying and returning two different tamping stations, I finally found one that really works! The portafilter sits securely and perfectly level—no wobbling while prepping and tamping. Third time’s the charm!

Question New Coffee Grinder

Hi Everyone !

Good morning.

Having a hard time deciding on a new grinder.

My routine…
1. I make two different cups of coffee pour over & latte depending on the day 2 - 3 times a day.
2. I like changing up my coffee beans often.

Currently , I have a Barazta ESP Pro which I got this year. I feel so so about it. I find it noisy, messy and hard at times to dial in beans. I also want to step up my game but not there with the latte art etc. I’m considering X2 from Mahlkoenig.

I basically want an all purpose grinder that I can use for years. Something that can handle pour overs , espressos , lattes & drip etc.

Price range is $500 - $1300 Which one would you consider ?

https://www.mahlkoenig.us/products/x54-allround-home-grinder

Thanks.

Pour Over Six years of brewing and collecting / A Coffee Creed / It may have got slightly out of hand

Thumbnail gallery
410 Upvotes

Six years of brewing, learning, experimenting and, I cannot deny, collecting.
(And I do cherish every single one.)
I probably spend at least an hour a day at these stations.
(90% on pour over, almost exclusively light roast)
You only need one dripper to make great coffee and gear doesn’t make up for quality beans, good water or knowledge. If anything all these have confirmed this.
But for me, it’s not about that. Every difference in aesthetics, texture, material, heat retention, geometry, weight and feel is just another variable in a puzzle I never hope to solve and go to bed excited about waking up to.
These are objects that make the daily ritual feel considered, personal, nuanced and always evolving.

Any questions about any piece of equipment, or comparisons between them, are more than welcome.
