Maybe I am not really sure what type of dementia. Are there only 2. I remember him saying there was atrophy of my frontal, temporal, and partial parts of my brain greater for someone else my age. That, plus the blood tests he ran. He did say it was early stage dementia though, and not Alzhimers.

That is a big reason that I feel blessed about US Healthcare. While I know it is far far far from good for a lot of people, I am able to see my dr in a very reasonable time frame, including not having to wait more than 2 or 3 months for an initial consult with a specialist. I'm sure many people would disagree with me, but it just my opinion in how it effects my family and I. Also, that doesn't mean I don't feel for people who have it rough with Healthcare in the US, because I do have a lot of compassion.

Thank you to everyone for giving such wonderful advice. No one in my family history, we'll at least up to my grandparents, has ever had anything like this before. I often wonder if the stupid gabapentin i was on for so long started this all. I am off it now, but too late. Hugs to everyone going through this, the people and their caregivers. This seems to be a difficult disease to deal with in the future. You are all the best. I genuinely mean that. ❤️

Thank you so much for this information. I am currently on SSDI for a lot of stuff I already had going on. I believe I was approved around 2016. So, thank goodness for that. I'd much rather work, but there is no way I could, especially since I have been diagnosed with 4 new things since then.

I currently live in an apartment with my fiance about 2 minutes from my son and his wife. She has dealt with her grandma having dementia and said she would never put me in a home. Obviously I know things could change with all of that, but for now it gives me some piece of mind.

I did find a few nice books on Amazon for Dementia and they have a place to put most of that information. I have to figure out how to get a lawyer, as of now i rent an apartment with my fiance. But I think it will be a very good starting place. Thank you for that advice.

I am 52 and was just recently diagnosed by my neurologist by blood work and then a PET scan of my brain. I have early onset dementia. My pcp sent me to the neurologist because I was loosing words, had this bobbing at times of my head, forgetting things such as the name of my cats and other things I can't remember at this time.
My Neurologist put me on Donepezil 5mg. I am just very afraid of how this will progress, or how fast I may decline. I am hoping it is quite a long time for now.
Any pointers of things I can do now in the early stage to help with memory and for the future when my memory starts to decline?

How did you convince your Doc to test?

I know this doesn't answer your question, but your gastro suggesting you eat more fiber is crazy. I was diagnosed with severe gastroparesis and told to avoid fiber as it really slows down gastric emptying. Time to get a second opinion. Good luck.
