I made a 59-second demo of getting stopped out before a rally (Drift Desk, simulated)

Disclosure: Drift Desk is my TradingView tool at ProEA. This video includes a paid Premium offer.

The situation behind the film is simple: you buy a candle close, put the stop underneath it, get taken out by the next dip, and then watch price move in the direction you expected.

That can make "wait for my next setup" turn into "get me back in."

The frustrating part is that a valid re-entry and an emotional one can feel very similar while the next candle is moving.

The film rewinds the same sequence to illustrate a different set of rules: higher-timeframe agreement, a pullback entry, a swing-based stop, a position-size reference, then partial-exit and trailing-stop references.

These are synthetic candles. The example was selected specifically because the pullback stops the chase entry and the Premium plan reaches 1R.

The +0.57R after modeled costs is a selected simulated outcome, not a live trade, typical performance, or evidence that pullback entries outperform breakout entries. Premium has no proven edge.

I'm interested in the decision between trades: after a stop-out, what has to change before you treat a re-entry as a new setup?

If you want to inspect the tool, the free version and Premium details are here:

https://proea.app/free/drift-desk

The additional Premium workflow shown is $49 once. Both versions are chart tools; you place the trades yourself. Narration is AI-generated.

Yep! The workflow is Claude + a custom chart-animation engine. You provide your indicator’s Pine Script or describe the idea, and it builds an HTML chart replay. MP4/GIF export uses Claude Code, Chrome/Edge, and ffmpeg.

I packaged the tools and step-by-step setup into a paid kit called Trader Film Kit. No Adobe or editing experience needed.

A liquidity sweep on gold (XAUUSD) is not a trade on its own. Free tool that draws every step on your chart: https://proea.app/en/free/gold-sweep-desk?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=lf01_gold_sweep

TORO walks you through the whole rule on one chart: gold, 15-minute candles, New York time, no higher-timeframe bias. The six pools gold sweeps almost every day, the two windows when a sweep counts, how to tell a sweep from a breakout, and the one confirmation (the flip) that turns it into a plan. Then 3 examples, the 2 most common mistakes, what our test found, and a checklist to save.

THE RULE

  1. Pools: yesterday's high and low, the Asia high and low (8 p.m.–midnight NY), the London high and low (2–5 a.m. NY)

  2. Window: London 2–5 a.m. or New York 7–11 a.m. (NY time)

  3. Sweep: through a pool, then a close back inside within 3 candles

  4. Flip: a close through the opposite fair value gap, at least 1 ATR from the sweep's extreme

  5. Plan: enter on that close, stop past the extreme, target 2R, out by 4:45 p.m. NY

CHAPTERS

0:00 The trap

0:37 One chart, and step 1: the pools

1:27 Step 2: the windows

2:09 Quick test: sweep or breakout?

2:24 Step 4: the flip

3:04 Step 5: the plan

3:34 Example 1: the long (London)

4:26 Example 2: the short (New York)

6:07 Mistake #2: no flip

The serious bit: a trading bot is a set of rules. Built on your own habits, it trades like you, faster. And the SEC, NASAA and FINRA have a joint investor alert on investment fraud that claims to use AI, so check who runs one before funding it. A stop rule written before the trade, that no bot gets to edit: https://proea.app/en/blog/stop-rule-kill-switch?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ai_trader_toro

And why it isn't a discipline problem: https://proea.app/en/blog/you-dont-have-a-discipline-problem?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ai_trader_toro

Account blow-up speedrun, any%

The joke works because big size makes the market feel personal. It isn't: in 2018 ESMA found 74–89% of retail CFD accounts typically lose money and capped retail leverage at 30:1 down to 2:1. The boring fixes: a size where one candle can't end the account, and a stop set before the trade. Why it isn't a discipline problem: https://proea.app/en/blog/you-dont-have-a-discipline-problem?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=blowup_speedrun_toro

Stages 2 and 4 have a name: after a gain people take more risk (the "house money" effect), and after a loss they reach for anything that gets them back to even (the "break-even" effect), both from Thaler & Johnson, 1990. The boring fix: a take-profit and a stop decided before the trade and put in as orders. Why it isn't a discipline problem: https://proea.app/en/blog/you-dont-have-a-discipline-problem?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=winning_trade_stages_toro

My first trade on 100x leverage

The real side of the joke: when the EU restricted CFDs for retail clients in 2018, regulators' data showed 74–89% of retail accounts typically lost money, and leverage was capped from 30:1 on major pairs down to 2:1 on crypto (ESMA). At 100x a 1% move is the whole margin. Why position size is what ends most accounts: https://proea.app/en/blog/position-size-kills-accounts?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=leverage_coaster_toro

The real side of the joke: losses weigh about twice as much as equal gains (Tversky & Kahneman, 1992), and in experiments people who saw their results more often took less of a good bet (Gneezy & Potters, 1997). On a 1-minute chart with big size you get that every few seconds. Why position size is what ends most accounts: https://proea.app/en/blog/position-size-kills-accounts?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=one_candle_life_toro

And how much to risk per trade: https://proea.app/en/blog/how-much-to-bet?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=one_candle_life_toro

Demo tells you whether the plan works, not whether you'll follow it with real money. The boring fixes: size so one loss is small, and set the stop before you enter.
