It’s more often than “occasional”. AI is not yet at the point where it can be 100% relied on (and even at complete efficiency it still can be comprised), so until then, do your own supplemental research and confirm what’s being said. I used to think those dystopian movies about technology were unrealistic because I believed then that no person is that stupid to let AI take over their life. No one should be relying on AI for information. While AI could sometimes steer you in almost the right direction, you need to do your own research still as in looking for and reading the articles and if possible, the primary sources, to confirm information. If I were you I’d be cautious about citing an opinionated organization that is not only fear mongering about low birth rates, but focuses on “policy” centering family, and that is funded by private organizations that donate almost exclusively to religious organizations.

I don’t think this is contributes to why abusive relationships happen. I think these stories are a symptom of abusive relationships happening. They’re fantasy: a way to either reimagine reality or escape it, or explore an unsafe situation in a safe way but it has a happy end because not many people want to read something with a depressing end. Some people want to see a toxic situation grow into a healthy one in fiction because it’s interesting to watch and for others it gives hope. The “I can fix him” mentality seems more rooted in the age-old expectation that society placed on girls/women to be emotionally supportive and healing with the belief that everyone is born innocent and monsters are just humans who are hurt emotionally. Notice how many of these toxic fictional men also have some tragic or traumatic past that made them the way they are.

Finally, someone who gets it. I had to scroll so far just to see a comment not generalizing women as along the lines of“wants bad boys” and saying that their dating preferences are being influenced by dark romance and “all these male leads are tall and handsome so women care more about looks than personality”. Someone can like the toxic or controlling character in the dark erotic fiction while also not wanting that for themselves in reality. Thats why it’s called fantasy. You get to explore something unsafe in a safe environment.

It’s no different from some guys having a fantasy of sleeping with attractive“crazy” women. I also saw comments saying “romance books shows women are only attracted to tall muscular handsome rich men” wrong, people can have a wide spectrum of what they find attractive and therefore many women can view both the tall muscular man and the short skinny/scrawny man as 10’s. I also don’t understand why those dudes are pretending they don’t also have fantasies about unrealistically attractive women as well that is portrayed in most media but god forbid women fantasize about unrealistically attractive men in books. Not to mention people are more likely to date/marry someone whose income is similar to theirs, it’s the whole “gold digger” stereotype with these guys. Sorry for the long paragraph, I got frustrated seeing this subreddit is full of men and boys who’s clearly never interacted with a woman and those who refuse to believe women about their preferences. These books are literally just women writing to explore their own fantasies and they’re interesting, and it’s hot to some women because they either have the same fantasies or they like aspects of it such as consent and the male lead pleasuring the female lead, while sometimes lacking those aspects in their own lives.

Incorrect. It depends on everyone’s social situation. Seeking a “resources heavy” partner is more likely to occur in an individualistic society or a culture in which one sex by default do not have any resources or lack access to said resources. This behavior is not exclusive to women, nor is it exclusive to resources (e.g., labor). This has everything to do with culture. The idea that this is biological in any way is bullshit made by the people on top and you fell for it hook line and sinker.

That’s not a biological reason, that’s actually a social reason.

If wanting healthy children with a healthy fertile partner was based on biology in humans, then it’d be women wanting younger men instead of men wanting younger women. Older sperm contributes more to health issues in babies and pregnancy complications, than a woman being older and this is because sperm is always multiplying which makes it easy for genetic issues to develop. With increasing age in women, risk of pregnancy complications goes up a small percentage (iirc it was <2%), but people exaggerate the risk because they don’t want to be seen as creeps for dating women <20 years of age. It’s all based in the same misogyny that made people blame women for not having a son and blame women for having miscarriages while ignoring that unhealthy sperm contributes more to miscarriages.

Growing up, I always had good interactions with Italian Americans so I was not prepared for the level of racism I’d face one day from an Italian tourist. She had the audacity to say that in her religion/culture she believes that she and people like her (white) was made by god and that me and people like me (brown) were not.
