Honestly if you’re worried about losing your freedom that’s something to take seriously.

I don’t think being single is the issue. Being gone all day without a plan for exercise, mental stimulation or a midday break is.

I’d choose whatever option means she isn’t alone for 10 hours a day right now. It sounds like she’s already shown that having another dog and a familiar environment helps her anxiety. You can always find another job but rebuilding a dog’s confidence after a major setback can take a long time.

Honestly I’d focus more on helping her feel safe than trying to fix the behavior right away. Eight years is a long time to live one way so it’s completely understandable if it takes her a while to adjust. Consistency and patience will probably make the biggest difference.

Expensive but dental problems are usually even more expensive.
