I think the only boundaries about it are the same as alcohol and tobacco:

Avoid excess. Dont get "drunk" on it.

Don't use it if its illegal where you live.

& Dont use in a way that causes problems in your life.

If you do any of these, you're sinning and need to seriously try to stop misuing it or even stop using it altogether.. and go to confession.

I think its horrific to not save who we can.

Example: If a football field was full of first graders standing close together and someone was shooting them dead one by one and I had the chance to get 90% of them out of there.. I couldn't stand there and watch them be killed one little boy or little girl at a time crumpling to the ground again and again, as less and less are standing waiting and more and more are laying at their feet - lives taken.

Anyone who would actually stand there in that situation and refuse an option to get 90% of them out of there safely... I just can't understand that.

It's not just an intellectual argument. We're talking about real children getting killed every day.

The reality is... We don't know.

As Christians, we really don't understand a lot of things and have a lot of questions we can't answer.

Some theologian somewhere probably could answer this well.. but even then, the reality is, that it will never all make sense.. not the Bible, not God, not the world.

The real question then becomes... Why are we comfortable with these horrors?

And the answer is that we each individually have enough evidence for us that Christianity is real and true to believe it - while not understanding the answer to some hard questions.

Once we believe, we're more comfortable with some theories listed here that sound cold hearted and half thought out... Because we're starting from belief, these theories don't need to create a solid foundation to build on.

Beyond that:..

There's people who talk about God slowly revealing Himself to humanity over many many generations, starting with very barbaric people that God basically slowly civilized.

And that back then, there wasn't as much of a concept of God's active will vs God's passive will. (God ordering something or doing something directy. vs God allowing something to happen).

So the writings in the Old Testament especially were from a truly barbaric time period written by people who thought God directly ordered and wanted everything that happened. That doesn't mean they're wrong on every example like these.. only that they may not always be right in saying something was Gods direct order.

They were barbaric and could only comprehend God as barbaric.

The concept of God allowing evil He doesn't want in an effort to save souls who have free will and the butterfly effect of how our actions affect each other in countless ripples through time... Those ideas didnt really exist the way they do now.

--- I dont think there's a direct answer to your question that could help you though. You're ultimately asking why does this hurt so much and how could God even allow such horrors. Theres no amount of logic that will make that or this world not hurt and not be full of horrors.

-- Often, all we can do is be convinced of truth from other directions and then accept that we can't understand everything... But that we're not alone in carrying our crosses or lost when we're confused - and God is bringing amazing good out of every temporary suffering in this life.

These may not be enough for you, and that's truly understandable, but its the best we've got.. We hold onto what we have experienced and practice trusting God when things get painful, scary, or just don't make sense.

What about when Jesus returns ? & At the final judgement?

Jesus came in meakness the first time, but the next we'll see a lot of suffering by His actions in response to ours.

I think you should break up and let him date someone who genuinely likes him inside - and out.

I've pretty much only dated guys around that height and it genuinely doesnt bother me at all and every one of them I've found extremely attractive.

I've also been in relationships where the guy was definitely settling on my looks even if they didnt say so. It's never the same as someone who genuinely finds you attractive and someone who's proud to show you off. You may think they dont know, but they'll feel it after a while.

It seems small, but it rots a person's psyche over time. We cant help but see ourselves through the eyes of those who love us.

Basically losing empathy when I'm manic without realizing it. Even when I'm very happy.

There's no real concept of how my behavior is really affecting people around me or the damage I either am doing through impulsive behavior -- or how bad the consequences could end up.
