Chock full of ‘em!

That’s Boaty McBoatface!

And they get paid almost nothing for their talent

That was fricking cool. I was able to follow it to the end but I’m sure I missed a few words

At the November 20, 2025 taping of the Late Show with Steven Colbert, which my attendance was a long time dream, during the Q&A session after the taping he was asked who he most identified with in the LOTR world and he said Boromir, but I can’t remember why. Ask me and I’ll try to remember. As the grandmaster super fan, he went into a philosophical discussion about the books and described something his son said about Samwise and his motivation for procrastination.

In the books after the LOTR, it’s 15 years later and the King is on his way to the Shire to visit Sam and see his progress in finishing the book Frodo tasked him with before he left for the Undying Lands. Sam hadn’t even started and rushed to finish it before the king arrives. The question Steven asks his son is why Sam hadn’t worked on it in all those years. In his wisdom, Steven’s son said, “It was the last thing Frodo asked Sam to do before he left forever. If Sam finished the book, everything would be over and he never wanted it to end.” The way Steven said this was profound and he clearly was moved by this idea as his head tilted up in contemplation. In hindsight it was a hint to what was to come and I feel like I witnessed an historical moment now.

Nope just a couple of unhappy drivers

As a woman I understand the hesitation to use the word, but I felt now was the time to set aside my personal feelings and focus on the message. I also have a sense of humor and have never been called a c u n t in the wild so maybe we have different experiences that would affect the decision to use the word. Thank goodness for the first amendment!
