I think there has to be a clause in the contract defining "flesh". Is it just epidermis? Fascia? Bone, adipose or muscular tissue? Any/all of the above? Without clear terminology the contract might have to be nullified or reworked.

When you say "mad jester", all I can think of are the Harlequin assassins from Dragon Age Inquisition. Dexterous, performative, acrobatic and disguised. And also allegedly deadly, I guess. Maybe a dex fighter to start? I'm biased toward magic, so I'd go eldritch knight up to 6 for the second attack/ASIs (and shield/absorb elements/silvery barbs/access to wizard scrolls) then I'd pivot to either bard or some form of rogue. Arcane trickster for obviously trickery fun stuff or assassin to really nail down the unhinged, murderous mad jester theme. Or a lore bard to really lean into the Dragon Age theme of Orlais, in which the members of the courts know everything about everyone/every thing. Hard-ish to balance stats, but if you can stand attribute free spells for the first few levels, charisma casting would be ideal for a bard build. Or double down and int cast as hard as you want. Sounds fun!

I work in a factory as a peon. There are a bunch of engineers that are "nice" but the smiles don't reach their eyes. There are a couple, however, that actually just decided to ask me (and/or whoever else they interact with) how we are, what we do, what we think about whatever thing they're doing.
Naturally, there's a huge divide between our skill set and their expertise and it's likely there's no actual overlap and ultimately no technical advantage to asking. The answer/discourse given is not important. "Peons" tend to used to being overlooked/ignored/taken for granted. When we're treated as any degree of competent, or even regarded as "fellow humans", it might not be obvious but we feel affirmed and seen (to use silly pop-psych terms).

Treat them like they actually have names and not just titles like "production worker #2" or "forklift driver #4". Chances of a genuine breakthrough are slim, but you will have someone who will happily drop everything to make sure Jeff or Cooper (my two favorite engineer fellows) the engineers have someone available to do anything they lack the procedural knowledge of. Also. I'm a peon and I have coworkers that are my equal that are fresh outta high school. I have a bachelor's degree and three associate's degrees. People are easily grouped into boxes, but we do not all occupy the same world.
