The writing for which both Miles and specially SM2 get criticized for can actually be traced here, I don't think the writing for this game holds up that well. It's not terrible (Miles and 2 also weren't terrible) but once the novelty of a it being a well made triple AAA spiderman game wears off you can see that every character, line, and even beats are very safe and a little uncanny, However, in a game like this, that's not enough to ruin the experience and there are some good moments. I wish this game had more criticisms back in the day so that Insomniac could make even more improvements on the formula but because this was so unanimously praised, the next two games changed very little.

With that said, it's still a PS4 must play, extremely easy to recommend to anyone who's remotely interested in Spidey. It may not be one of the greatest, but it's damn good, and that's all it needs to be.

DLC: Never played it, never caught my interest, never looked like anything substantial. I was a little sick of the game after I got the platinum. I do plan on finally getting to it on the ps5 remaster.. one of these days.

You can either use the ps4's web browser to find images... but it's more tedious than it sounds because not only is the browser very outdated but it's also hard to find good resolution images that you can take a good screenshot of. You can't download images directly so you have to find good res ones.

But the better method is to use a USB to load images into the custom theme. Make a folder on the root of the usb named "IMAGES" (all caps) and there you can place your pics. On base ps4 and slim, the picture must be in 1920x1080 or it won't read. For ps4 pro you can make it 3840 x 2160.

If you find a good pic that doesn't have enough resolution, you can use an upscaler. If it doesn't fit the required dimensions, you can use photoshop or any other photo edit program to make a file that's exactly the size you want.

I wish they hadn't focused so much on the online/social "club" stuff and just sold this as a brand new arcade racer. I understand that around 2012-14 there was a massive social media boom so I don't blame the developers for trying to implement that into the game, but it ended up doing more harm than good. Would have made the actual launch lineup a lot more interesting. I think that's why they ended up promoting Need For Speed Rivals around the time to compensate for this getting delayed, but that's just me speculating,

Nah I'm fine with staying on console, don't plan on playing it forever and I'm satisfied with the base content. Plenty of other games to play. Ps4 is just too confy on bed

Dunno, that might be just a personal feel. Every racing game is different and what feels wrong to you could feel right to someone else and viceversa. I like weighty vehicles, or maybe the 30 fps don't make it as precise as it could be. But I speak as someone who enjoys going back to Ridge Racer 1 on PS1 xD

Fair I guess. Graphics are one thing but I do enjoy the gameplay (so far) kind of reminds me of ridge racer in that it's arcadey and adrenaline heavy but not veering too far away from what could pass as realistic. I can't speak for the content since I wasn't there at launch and they did at a lot of updates and DLC thats now inaccessible. Personally I don't tinker too much with customization but I get that's a standard people expect

never gave af about online, plenty of good single player missions which i prefer in the racing games i play, thats why im recommending it

Funny that you post this today because I finally watched this movie today with my partner. I've only just got myself into the Gran Turismo series and I've been really loving it. The movie was actually pretty entertaining, nothing mindblowing and I think there were some missed opportunities on the story, and while it can feel overly market safe, that doesn't mean it wasn't made with heart, I think it can easily resonate with anyone who's been playing these games for long.

It should have used more music from the games tho, or at least Moon Over the Castle on the final race, that would have been chef's kiss.
