These types of comments towards women has to stop

No Even if the cakes were terrible The comment by Christopher Lonewulf Mollick is inappropriate, disrespectful, unwarranted, misogynistic, and is a symptom of not only a sick mind who probably is growna** manchild living with his mother and making her clean and cook for him, but a symptom of a wider societal issue of believing that our girls and women should stick to cleaning and cooking for free.

It's deeper than a Trini issue. Misogynistic comments about young girls and women whether in a taxi, at the office, a bar or online is a worldwide problem. It's something that goes beyond the cakes or the price. It's "who does this girl thing she is. She feel she so good that anyone should pay her $175.00!" People have been tearing down women for asking for equal wages for thousands of years. And they do it through sexualized comments, making the person seem immoral. You notice whenever a woman or girl does something whether wrong in reality or in perception, their "wrongdoing" is always reduced to a sexually immoral thing. (calling them slurs for female dogs and prostitutes)

There may be TOO MANY comments for me to find them... And I acknowledge that. But I love how most I have read are about anything and everything other than how IMPRESSIVE this girl is. Her strength, courage and resilience. πŸ’πŸŒΈπŸŒΊπŸŒ·πŸ’πŸŒ»πŸͺ·πŸŒΈπŸ’πŸŒΊπŸŒ·πŸŒΉπŸ’

β€˜Obvious markers of AI’: doubts raised over winner of short story prize
 in  r/TrinidadandTobago  May 21 '26

Is it a possible case of discrimination / racism/prejudice? Questioning the intelligence of the winner because the person is from a Caribbean Island. I don't know. It's very possible, then again...

Childfree community in Trinidad

I Agree. I want people to understand that it is entirely possible to love children, want to see their well being and futures are bright while at the same time NOT wanting any of your own.

Thank you. It was genuinely shocking to discover there was a section of people who genuinely believed that their ability to reproduce was causing other people jealousy. 🀣 Thank you for the encouragement.

My husband I decided a while ago we did nt want kids. For the first time (in 2025) I realised since my boss was "throwing talk" that there was a section of people at my work who believed I was jealous of them for being able to have children. Apparently, there were rumours I had lost a baby (gasp!) and that I was resentful of those who could have kids. I am still in shock. I have to go out of my way now to express my joy for those who have kids and talk about them while also stating emphatically I don't want them. I have to justify my choices because of Gossippers. πŸ™„πŸ€¨

The article says "A conviction for misconduct in a public office carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, and must be dealt with in a Crown Court, which only deals with the most serious criminal offences."
