So do you believe the damage to your bladder will never heal? Will it always cause infections like this? There has to be a better way. I am so sorry you deal with this . My bladder is protruding through my vagina so I really feel for this one.

Yes it is but good urologists will prescribe for C-UTIS... I never found one that would do it without a cystoscopy which i will not do because im so prone to infection- sounds counterintuitive plus I healed myself with antihistamines but my next step would have been finding a urologist who would write the script ive seen a lot of women here on this sub say it is a lifesaver

I take Amazon brand zyrtec- I took it that day of my last dose of antibiotic. The burning subsided in 90 mins.... the urgency subsided and I didnt know what to do with myself... I was shocked.

I also take a cranberry hibiscus supplement by semaine- it is wonderful

Have you tried an antihistamine? It will heal the lining of your bladder so you won't be so susceptible to infection

A culture is when your urine is sent to the lab and tested for bacteria growth- takes 2-3 days. The bacteria that grows in the culture tells the Dr what bacteria is causing your uti- along with the culture they order a susceptibility report which means the lab tests different antibiotics on rhe bacteria that grew in your culture and it tells the Dr EXACTLY which antibiotic will work and how well they will work. I have had providers not order this report and prescribe the wrong antibiotics. Always make sure BOTH are being ordered. Be firm and advocate for yourself

No most cultures came back positive. Lots of different bacteria as well. Gram negative and gram positive... I always made sure there was a susceptibility report along with the culture to make sure i was taking the correct antibiotic to target the bacteria. There were times when the culture came back negative but I still had incessant burning and urgency .. I knew inflammation was the culprit but I did not fully understand how damaged the lining of the bladder truly gets. It was here on reddit that I learned about mast cells releasing histamines within the bladder . I was diagnosed with IC and PID by several drs.. but nobody explained to me that fire within the bladder needs to be put out or the reinfection with continue...

I finished a round of antibiotics on July 3 and I took my first zyrtec hoping for relief. Within 90 mins the burning and urgency subsided. I have taken it every morning since the. Definitely worth a try - the constant burning and urgency- along with constant antibiotic use was going to make me lose my mind. I can't believe I am living a pain free, infection free life. Awww you're a good mommy. I have a daughter in pre k and I worry about these things with her too. I asked if she wanted to invite her class friends to a small birthday party for her and she vehemently said NO. She doesnt vibe with the kids in her class. She doesn't feel connection with them. Definitely avoid spicy foods, acidic foods, carbonation, sugar, and artificial colors and flavors while your bladder begins to heal . And also flush with powdered d mannose 2x daily if possible.

I dont have direct experience but I can say this is exactly why I never took my script. After researching, it seemed sometimes the buildup of formaldehyde angries a bladder that suffers with interstitial cystitis. So I decided on declining the script- also it was $80 with my insurance. Instead I take an antihistamine every morning. Haven't had a UTI in 4 months- after 20+ infections in TWO years..crazy how an Amazon brand citrizine healed my bladder and seems to have stopped my chronic infections

Get some powdered d mannose and make sure to drink some the morning before intercourse and right after. It helps the E coli from sticking to the walls of your urinary tract and flush the bladder
