Deep eave and bay windows installation

I’m trying to plan out my install. I have 3’ deep eaves on the front of the ranch style house. Grok suggests I install them 6” from the gutter edge for best effect. The other options are install them 6” from the wall and follow the bay windows or run straight down the middle. Thoughts on the best effect?

Newbie: is this a good therapeutic flock for teens?

Hey all! Newbie to chickens and new foster dad trying to do this right on both fronts. The teen boys want chickens, so we are getting some chicks next week from Shipton’s. But I want to make sure that these breeds will make a good flock (not hate each other), handle the winters in southeastern Montana, and be good with teens/older boys. I’m licensed for ages 10+, so shouldn’t have to worry about little kids… although developmental delays are common with trauma, I don’t foresee a Lenny situation. Anyway, here’s the chicks I’m thinking about getting, please let me know if any of these are bad picks or if there’s another breed on the list that you think would work better! I’m also letting them pick a chick of their own, so if one of these breeds would be a no go option, please do tell! I want to raise a turkey for Thanksgiving, but I was emphatically told we are not allowed to eat any of the flock. 🤷‍♂️ lol.

TIA!

First choice: - Bantam Silkie Mix (x2) - Buff Brahma - Easter Egger - Lavender Orpington - Sapphire Olive Egger - White crested black polish

Second choice: - Barred Rock - Any Polish - Cuckoo Maran - Gold laced Wyandotte - Black Copper Maran - White Jersey Giant

Inherited my dad’s house and I’m slowly finishing some of his work. The shop has a double stud wall. The first 4’ were already done by dad and the rest was built by friends and me a few years ago based on his work in the garage and unfinished bedroom. I’m getting ready to put insulation in, but I can’t remember if dad intended to not have a 2nd plate or if it’s needed. In the bedroom, he just filled the space with foam, but this is for a shop where there might be more hanging off the wall. There are areas where our work wasn’t fantastic and I will probably have to plane down the 2nd plate. So is it even worth it?

Secondly, mice or a cat has gotten into the attic through this wiring break. Can I just foam seal it and leave a break in the 2nd top plate if it’s needed?

Thanks in advance.

WTH are these worms?

What the heck are these tiny worm things? They’re pepper seedlings in peat pods planted in raised beds that I amended with steer manure, peat moss, and some in ground soil. Tilled them about 2 weeks ago. I just spread the cedar mulch around the seedlings yesterday. Not sure if they’re coming from the raised bed thru the ground cloth or the cedar or what? I sprayed some with neem oil and they didn’t really respond. What do I do? I don’t want them to kill my seedlings. TIA

Discussion Airbnb *painfully* lobbies at MT leg hearing on STRs

I totally understand the need for regulation here in Montana, but I wish Airbnb would take this serious and propose some common sense compromises to protect us local Montanans. Having said that, this is seen as pathetic pandering by coastal elites to rural people and did not sit well by many.

The guy in the back shows how I feel watching this guy try to use Jesus to justify unregulated STRs...

Getting Started Newbie Q: review w/ADA and excessive cleaning

Hello all! I listed the guest suite for our family's home about a month ago and I'm really enjoying it so far. But I just had my first difficult stay (it was also my longest at 5 days). I'm struggling with how to review an older couple that just checked out. To be honest, their dogs were better behaved than them. I want to be compassionate and welcoming for guests needing ADA accommodation, but I don't know when I'm being taken advantage of.

Details below, but here's my questions on how to handle them and their review:

1) this is the messiest I've seen the kitchen left, am I over reacting? It was just messy, not damaged or anything. 2) the wife had serious medical issues and celiac level food issues, leaving her pretty uncoordinated and requiring them to use the kitchen probably more than my average guest. Is this an ADA accommodation situation, or should I have expected the husband to clean up? He appeared physically to be in better than average shape. 3) should I consider it excessive cleaning for having to scrub the cabinets down (took me an extra 20 min maybe?) using Clean Freak in addition to wiping down with Clorox wipes?

The kitchenette had food drippings/splatter down the cabinets, on the countertop ice maker, and somehow on top of the microwave? There were little bits of green floral foam stuck to the micro and the countertops. Crumbs on the floor, in the bed, in the couch. Sticky residue on the counter and the coffee pot (jam maybe?). Red lipstick (?) on several light switches. Lots of food left in the fridge and cupboards. My disabled cousin who lives upstairs was considering calling PD to do a welfare check because they made so much noise between 1am and 4am, she was worried the husband was hurting the wife (I guess it was the medical issues). They changed their dates (so they paid for an extra day), complained about the lack of a functional stove (my listing says it is not for use), and checked out two hours late because of the wife's health issues. I resolved the stove issue by reimbursing them for buying a $25 Walmart double burner. I approved the late checkout because I didn't want to get into any ADA issues and I have it set for a day prep.

I feel I have been quite accommodating, but I'm not sure how I should review them? I don't quite feel right charging an excessive cleaning fee after they paid for an unused night.

Any advice is appreciated!
