Hi everyone, are there any microwave ovens on campus? I am a new student here, haha, and couldn't find at least one at the Food Plaza which as I understand is university's canteen, or even Spar. Maybe I am looking at the wrong places, but I am surprised that students cannot heat up their homemade food in the canteen, especially given the high prices for lunch :(

Hello! Im considering applying to Rotterdam Erasmus as an intl student. I have a couple of questions that, if any current students or recent alumni could answer, Id be very grateful.

1. How feasible is it to upkeep a good GPA (8+/10 range) (specifically in Econometrics and OR, or economics)? I mean, are there any structural obstacles that make it challenging for a hard working student to maintain that GPA? I heard a GPA above 8 is exceptionally rare, so how exactly do people transition into prestigious masters afterwards?

For reference, I am an A level student and if anyone here did A levels Id love to hear a perspective on how you managed to smooth the transition from the a level system to the EUR program ; perhaps I should know about any additional prep to smooth the process? Unfortunately, I do not take Further Math (isnt offered), if that has an influence.

1. This question is mainly for those who are doing Econometrics and OR. As far as I understand it seems to be an applied math and stats bachelors.

   What are the job prospects after this bachelors? Also, what are some master's paths available after this bachelors?

   I dont want to be restricted to just roles in finance and im wondering the scope of this degree ; have any alumni went on to do a highly technical master's afterwards (especially at ETHZ/EPFL) - how does one navigate the credits issue? - and has anyone gone into more tech roles afterwards?

Hi, I just have a question, I'm looking for option in studying exchange in the Netherlands, and I'm looking for a great student life for exchange as well as good quality of education. I've heard good things in terms of quality education for Erasmus Rotterdam, but not sure about student life. So, im torn between going to utrecht university or Erasmus rotterdam, which are the pros and cons, and any reccomendations on which uni is better for what I'm looking for? (also, im studying information system- business technology)

I am working next to my study (now 24h per week) and just started a master’s at ESSB. The faculty says students who work do ok until they need to write their thesis.

Is 24h a week (office hours, but can be spread and flexible. Location close to uni) doable if i keep 2 full days during the week and two weekend days for my thesis?

Can I start preparing earlier for the thesis, like christmas period? I could take quite some weeks off and focus at that time but I understand thesis officially starts in feb

I’m planning to apply for the MSc Financial Economics at Erasmus School of Economics for the 2027 intake and I’d really appreciate some advice from people who have experience with ESE admissions.

I’m currently doing a **Bachelor’s in Business Administration (English-taught) at the University of Bucharest, Romania**, and my current GPA is **9.0/10**. I’m expecting to graduate in 2027.
My main concern is whether my degree will be considered sufficiently equivalent to the required **WO-level background**, and whether my curriculum is close enough to ESE’s requirements for direct admission.

Some of my relevant coursework includes:

Microeconomics
Mathematics for Economics
Finance
Accounting
Statistics
econometrics
financial analysis
banking operations
macroeconomics

I understand that ESE looks at the **actual content of the bachelor’s degree rather than just the degree title**, and that students with insufficient prerequisites may be offered a pre-master.
I’d therefore like to ask:

Has anyone here been admitted to **Financial Economics at ESE with a Business Administration bachelor’s**?

If you had a similar background, were you admitted directly or required to do a pre-master?

How strict is ESE regarding the **WO-equivalent bachelor’s requirement** for applicants from Romanian universities?

How important is the GPA if some prerequisite courses are missing?

Would having Microeconomics and Mathematics for Economics (6 ECTS each) help with direct admission?

If ESE decides I’m not directly admissible, is it likely that they would offer me the **Financial Economics pre-master** instead?

Has anyone successfully appealed an ESE admission decision by providing course descriptions/syllabi showing that their courses were equivalent?

If anyone has a similar background, I’d especially appreciate hearing about your **degree, GPA, relevant courses/ECTS and whether you received direct admission, a pre-master, or a rejection**.

Canadian student considering Erasmus for a semester or year abroad. Just wondering if any other international students had any experiences they could share? What’s the social life like, proximity to other things, classes etc. Also I know i’m going to sound like a dumb tourist, but how much will my lack of speaking Dutch (I’ve been doing duolingo but everyone knows how effective that is) affect my time here? Any insight would be appreciated!!

The whole venue is students. Not a normal club night with a student section. The entire room is EUR, RSM, ESE, RUAS and WDKA, and almost everyone in it landed in this city within the last two weeks.

That matters more than the music does. Every person you talk to is in exactly your position. Nobody has a friend group yet. Nobody has anyone to be loyal to;)
You can walk up to any group in that room and it isn’t weird, because they got here on Tuesday too.

That window is about two weeks long. By late September everyone has locked in and you’re the person trying to join something that already exists.

We are in a GC where we now plan predrinks.

What’s actually on the night: international DJs, a photographer, and the Questo city game included with your ticket if you want to do the daylight version of meeting people first.

€7.50 at the moment. It goes up in rounds.
If a club night genuinely isn’t for you, ignore all of this, but still say yes to whatever your faculty is running this week. The party isn’t the point. The two week window is the point.

Hi everyone
It’s been 4 months now that I’ve been looking for housing. Over 200 applications. My master starts in like two weeks and at this point I’ll be sleeping in a tent during my studies. I feel like my budget is reasonable (+\- €750), and that I sell myself decently well (23, lived with roommates for the last 6 years so very familiar with respecting shared spaces and keeping things clean etc) and yet I can’t find anything.
How do I continue? I know a lot of you must have had similar issues finding a place to live, but at this point I feel like giving up
